Photoshop is a graphics program from a company called Adobe. Google for it a little. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

As for Sigs, you can also try a much cheaper program called paint Shop, that is, if you can't afford Photoshop.

photoshop programs run anywhere from $250 to $400.

P http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gifhotoshop is high-end digital creative program used for digital art..cost a lot..I would recommend Photoshop over Paint Shop Pro cuz Photoshop has all the effects and special tools and wat not..PSP does not have that..it is best to just start off with photoshop..and as for the cost..*cough* theres ways to get it for cheaper..*cough*..

don't listen to these fools... photoshop is not a graphics program. it's not even for photos. it's some weird word processing program similar to Word. don't get it... it'll just make you really sad and angry. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Now you see, what your thinking about is Adobe Acrobat Reader...Idiot

ok ok... yes, photoshop IS a graphics program... but only for use on raster graphics (pixels such as continuous tone images like photosâ€" b&w or color). if you wanna deal with scaleable images such as vectors, i highly recommend learning illustrator, yet another one of adobe's fine programs. a vector based image contains lines with end points, called paths, that enable the printer to read it easily using postscript to produce crisp fine lines on output. often used for logos, text, and sometimes art... now if you wanna combine the two, then you have a "vexel" which is what some artists refer to as using the pen tool in photoshop and addin a few photoshop based effects to it. these will be converted to pixel on output UNLESS the paths are imported into illustrator before output. now that i've probably thoroughly confused the hell out of you, i'll be on my way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

kinda funny because if you really knew what acrobat reader was... lol, you'd know it's not a word processing program at all. can i explain acrobat... sure! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ok acrobat is actually 2 different programs (reader/professional and distiller). reader is pretty much the freebie professional... professional allows you to do more stuff. pretty much the point of acrobat is to READ PDFs. now see, the point of a PDF is to take just about any visible file and make it readable on all computers (regardless of the OS). with this in mind, you can do a variety of things. there's even editable PDFs such as forms. on top of that, you can even put a video into a PDF... very cool! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif anyway, these are now becoming preferred over other file formats, especially when dealing with graphics and advertisement. send a PDF X-1a to a magazine and they can easily put your ad into their publication! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif anyway, as for acrobat distiller, it's a means to take a PS (postscript) file and convert it to PDF. the advantage of this is that there is nothing more in this file but the bare necessities. this is also an art form in itself if you see yourself as an expert at postscript programming. this involves vectors, text, etc. and their cooridinates... very confusing stuff... i make nothin but junk with it. :P so after all of this, take your PS file, run it through distiller. if you did it right, you'll get a PDF file that you can open in acrobat reader and you'll see what you typed out as visuals (squares, boxes, etc.). anyway, i hope that helped you understand. afterall, if you're gonna wordprocess, your best bet is to just use Word. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

For amateurs, Adobe PhotoDeluxe is an inexpensive compromise. It gives you "amateur" tools to edit photos and graphics.
You might be able to buy it separately.
Version 3.0 came free with my $70 scanner three years ago. Such software might come with certain cameras.

I just wanted you to know that there are affordable alternatives for a starting point.

are you tryin to fight with me? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif first of all, to insult me, use better grammar. second, i use photoshop CS. i never said photoshop was bad with vectors... i only said that it will covert vectors to raster unless exported to illustrator... which is true. dude, this is where my career lies in the future when i get my bachelors, i think i know. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif i'll leave it at that and prevent tryin to insult you, much like you have tried with me but couldn't succeed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

no biggie... just when you make cocky and insulting sounding comments, you sound like a jerk in the eyes of others... thus no one will like you. if you wanna see some of my graphic work, check out http://jmk1999.deviantart.com ... i got alot of photoshop work that incorporates illustrator, indesign, and quark in there... particularly my movie posters (indesign) and my pocket spam box design (quarkxpress).
