View Full Version : A first for me

I?ve hit ?em. I?ve made ?em smoke. I?ve even made ?em burn and crash. . I can remember shooting so many holes in 190s that kept flying that I wondered how they had enough air under their wings to keep themselves airborne. But I don?t remember once since the Fw series was introduced late in the original IL2, that I?ve made one explode using an American fighter. Maybe a stray 20mm hit a fuel tank from my P-38, I don?t know. These .50s seem to hit hard now. It just may be my imagination, but I feel like the playing field has finally leveled out. All of a sudden, this sim seems to be enjoyable for me again.

I zoomed in during replay to see the FW-190 better while capturing these images.

I blew up a 190 with a Mustang last night online. It's never happened before (at least as far as I can remember) and I've been flying 51's since they first appeared in AEP.

I've never blown one up, but I was testing convergences in a 51-D20 against a flight of friendly Doras once. In a single half second burst, I simultaneously blew both wings off a Dora right at the roots. The rest of the fuselage glided (with no rotation whatsoever) in a perfect parabola to the ground. I have yet to reproduce the shot against a human opponent.

Right after I installed 1946 I was trying it out in QMB and drew a bead on a Dora using the P-51D-20NA. I sqeezed the trigger and the Dora's wing snapped right where the pipper was. It was at that moment that I knew that the Pony was back.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
