View Full Version : W.I.P. A New Rufe Campaign

This 14 mission campaign is a sequel to Straight Shot. The first 13 missions are in beta-testing. I hope to have it released in a week or two. Here is how it starts...

With your success in the South Pacific, you are now in command of the seaplane squadron on the IJN Heavy Cruiser Hashimoto. You will be catapulted off the cruiser to undertake various missions including intercept, recon and attack in your A6M2-N seaplane (Allied designation Rufe).

You have moved from the warm waters of the South Pacific to the frigid, barren wasteland of the Aleutians. You left Tokyo Bay three weeks ago and are now approaching your new base of operations with two freighters of vital equipment and supplies. Three companies of Imperial Army engineers have carved out an airfield in this unforgiving wilderness and created Hikuru Base.

Your missions will be harder than any you have faced before. The enemy will be unforgiving; the weather will be worse...

Having a good time with Straight Shot, young Sir. Bobbing on the lake with the engine off and seeing/hearing that C-47 come into view was priceless. I felt like a trap door spider ready to jump out of my hole onto the prey as the engine restarted http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The 1st one was great. I am testing this one and it is shaping up to be even better. 30mph fog, Keebirds, Williwar winds........it's all there

That was the intent in that mission. Fortunately, the C-47s are slow enough that you can takeoff and catch up to them after they pass overhead.

I need to tell everyone that this new campaign will only be for a merged install. The map I had to use is not available in PF.

Kewl Zeus-cat. More Rufe fun! I finished Dave Humphries SBD Guadalcanal a bit ago (that was really fun) and I want to fly "Straight Down" as soon as I get through with my current Campaign (BB's Cactus for the second time). Just finished "Washing Machine Charlie" mission. I hate flying/fighting in the dark http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Looking forward to gloomy Aleutians! Thanks for your work!!

Heh heh http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I'd expect, as much as you'd hate it, to review it with as much detail as you did the last time

A sequel to "The Float Hater".

I was going to call it "The Float Despiser" or "The Float Detester", but those titles just didn't make me all warm and fuzzy.

So far Dubbo has made 6,593 comments on things he wants me to change in the campaign. I suspect that number will grow once he actually plays a mission!!!

Well, once you fix a bloody mission, I might try it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Just because I'm Australian doesn't mean I enjoy 2nd rate stuff....

There is some great stuff in this campaign..well the missions that work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Here you land whilst the cruiser is under way and shelling...something. I have never landed under these conditions before. Very cool. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Wait til you get to mission 22....

That would be mission 13 for most of you.

Dubbo, you forgot to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Oh yeah....# 13. I was counting all those missions from the first campaign,("Straight Down My Leg" or "Straight Shot" or whatever it was called),in my total. My Bad. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
