S!

Can we think about doing away with this feature from our Coop's?

The amount of info that can be found with a quick press of the S key really sets us back. I can understand if this worked against the majority of IL-2's customers, which are probably still offline players. In online dogfight maps it is OK. In online Coops's it needs to go.

I like to think of it as an intelligence report.

you can see wich planes are going to fly and who got it in the select plane screen, so press S key, dont really change very much the situation, i like S because, if im fighting with the last p39, i can see who its the pilot on it,in example,or looking if im host, how much pilots are life, and if i can end the game , plz, think about it.

I should have said Realistic Settings somewhere in the first post.

In full real, it should go for all of the reasons stated. If we need intel, the AI radio chatter needs to be expanded to include that info.

I like this idea for DF and Coops. Why is it fun to see that you have x number of aircraft in the mission on the other side? The mystery of not knowing what could be out there is a large part of the immersion factor. At least in coops you don't know the number of AI only aircraft that could be in the mission with you on either side. In the DF mission, it is too easy to see the strength of your opposition.

You don't really see the strength of your opposition in "a coop"....Dogfight yes....In a coop AI often plays a huge factor. Be it the planes NOT selected by players, or the dedicated AI in the mission itself. Though I understand your reasoning, it does however have value in knowing who is flying with you (as often folks move to other planes once you are ready).......My guess is though splitting it to both red and blue sides might be more difficult then they'd care to devote time to....

I myself would still like to see F2/F6 & ShiftF2/F6 a "selectable" option.....Though you're speaking of no external coops.....In external coops those keys are so often abused it's not funny.

Com'on guys, let's not become paranoic here !!!!

Or, can you see when pressing "S" the amount of fuel (%) each one has and the loading of the plane? (bombs, rockets etc).
The difference of a player flying at 50% fuel or 100% fuel or, with a bomb rack under his belly (after bomb dropped) etc is significant.
And you see nothing of that...

"S" has a very important function: you can see the pings of the players and, when you have problems with the connection you can identify the person creating lag to everybody else and kick him.

If you think you can not know who flies a kind of plane, you are wrong! the host (or the last person that will press "fly") knows exactly which person took which plane.

Nares' post is very much to the point.

Let's not make our lives unecessarily difficult...

How 'bout a romantic flight over Mont St-Michel in a Beach Staggerwing (the Prince Charming of all aircraft)?

Cheers,
