Thirst i thaught it was a error when in the trainingmission the gear dindt raise, i dindt mind.
But then in campaign mode the gear kept down. And i couldnt find anything about this in the forums. I cant raise it manualy nor automatic. i checked the key assignments so that isnt the problem. And my flaps and tail hook work fine.
Any suggestions what i should do?

You need to set a key, its a manual gear you gotta pound it about 30 times.

I presume you are flying a Wildcat, if so check page 5 of the ReadmePF.doc

I wish someone would respond to you.. My gear
will not work either. and none of my f keys (F1
etc. so I cant see what state they are in.

Say if you found out anything on this. I would
like an e mail (engdenton@msn.com) If I get info will post it here.

First of all I would suggest you read the manual! Then fire up PF, and map two keys to manually raise and lower your gear. You will have to keep hitting the key to raise or lower your gear.

Thats the perfect solution Goat LOL. Hmm of course I liked your first respoince of hitting Control E several times then reporting back LOL.

When all else fails READ the INSTRUCTIONS. Thats what its there for. This has been asked many times. I know if I cant find something, I read the manual or at least attempt to before coming here.

Simply put the readme says you have to raise the gear manually on some aircraft. If it raises on some aircraft, and not on others then the aircraft you are in has manual gear unless you took battle damage. The readme tells you how to fix this. Also use F2 to see the aircraft from outside, but only if you have external views enabled.

The views must be enabled in the difficulty section. Not sure what its called ....

You also need to say what plane it is. Some planes have manaul gear up and manual gear lowered. As stated you have to map a key in the controls and keep hitting it. Not all aircraft have automatic gear control as it was in real life

If none of your function keys (f1 to f12) work, make sure you don't have one of those new MicroSoft keyboards.

I don't know why they invented it, but they decided to put new functions on the function keys. The old functions are only reachable when you hit the f-lock key (something like a num-lock for function keys). It's very annoying. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

What's worse, the new functions are totally useless. They are: save, undo, redo, spellcheck etc etc which already had well known shortcuts.

Hey pepper, what plane are you flying? Remember that some planes like the Aichi D3A1 Val (or Stuka and the P-11 if you have FB+AEP) had fixed landing gear, so it does not raise. On others, like the Helicat, the gear is raised and lower manually. To manually rise and lower the landing gear you'll have first to map a key or a set of keys. I use Shift+G to raise and Ctrl+G to lower the gear. After you mapped the keys, you'll have to tap the keys several times (like 20 or so). This simulates the fact that manual gears were raised or lowered by turning a crank serveral times.

I did read the complete manual that came wiht the game, i read it when installing. But there was nothing in it about the gear! And the aircraft is the f-4u if im right. And im sure i mapped the keys. It was the first thing i did when i started up the game, i also needed to map my joystick. I will try to use the manual raise gear, i dindt know you need to push it more then once. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My gear always rises when I need it to. Maybe not in cold water though.

My gear won't work either. On the f-keys--it may be that you have a new keyboard like mine that has a f-lock key to the right of all the other f-keys. This has to be pressed to switch the keys from their alternate funtions to the f-functions. It will default to the other funtions whenever you restart the computer and you will always have to press f-lock before flying.

pepper_airborne,

abandon this thread and start a new one labled: "Help, I can't raise F4U gear." And put it on this forum and in the technical forum. I also jumped to the conclusion that you hadn't bound a key for manual gear movements, and that clearly is not the case.

READ THE HISTORY BOOKS GUYS!

F4F
I-16

They have manually operated landing gear.

Uhm... sorry for the stupid post, but dosen't anyone read the manual or readme?

pepper_airborne

I did read the manual. No info on the gear in that . But it is in the readme.

And i did set-up the keys as i stated before, i dindt know you had to pump serval times because i never used that system in il-2 and il-2-fb.

Engrs

You can also use the same keys to pump the gear up and down on some planes, if not all, if their hydraulics are damaged.

You were flying the wrong planes in Il2 and FB then...

The I-16 (and others) used the same method.

Anyway now you know so everybody's happy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

hmmm nobodys mention the old,, how do i raise the gear on the stuka.

Skycat_2
02-20-2005, 02:13 PM
You can't raise the gear on the Stuka. Not all planes of that era had retracting gear.

AS far as the views go make sure you have externals enabled... and yeah.. that MS keyboard thing is annoying as #ell.
