I've noticed that some servers allow it and some don't.
What's your point of view?

Everyone knows that you're allowed to hit enemy aircraft on the ground if you have a bomb under your belly.
But what if you're in a P-47 with rockets under your wings?
Are you a "bomber" and thus allowed to vulch or are you a "fighter" and not allowed to?
Or are you a "bomber" untill you use your rockets (vulching) and then you become a "fighter" once your rockets are gone?

If rockets are primarily a ground attack weapon should they not be put in the same class as bombs and thus considered a vulchable weapon?

I noticed alot dont allow it but they allow the il2 to vulch which takes double the ammount of damage as the p47 and has more rockets and better payloads.

The stuka is no match for the il2 in fb either

Always ask the host before you attempt to vulch in a P-47 other players may think its stretching the rules if you use the 47 to hit them while they're on the ground so it's best to get confirmation before you do it. I personally think if the server allows vulching in bombers only then the loss in performance that comes with bombs and rockets just about qualifies the P-47 as a bomber, but in the true spirit of the word bomber then you should really use an IL2, Stuka, TB or He etc.

Shoot first ask questions later. The worst that can happen is they'll boot you from the server. Chances are when back in HL you'll find another, better server. Either way, you win /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Vulching should never be done against another squad in a match.
Only those who cannot win in air to air combat go for the easy kills thru vulching. It is not an honorable practice. Once a team has all been downed always do an RTB and make the fightig fair.

Now in a mission that decision may vary as in missions you are tryig to win as if in a war and you may have one of your pilots making sure the other team does not make it back to successfully complete their mission, therefore in this case it is fair and acceptable.

Keep in mind matches and missions are 2 totally different things.

If you want to do a compromise , and nobody will complain , load to the teeth your Jug and strafe and use the rockets only on stationary and bombs for the players plane , this way nobody can say you've vulched , pretty simple.

Oh , and yes , I'm a vulcher!

I tried asking a scripted server if the P-47 with rockets and bombs could ground attack.
You'll love the answer- no, its a dog fight plane, if you do I'll boot without warning.

Care to guess which server it was?? LOL And you're right the Stuka is perhaps one of the more worthless planes for attacking then running away. At least the IL2 can take a beating.

The old jug can carry more ordnance than just about any other plane in the game (except for the bombers) and certainly qualifies as a bomber in that respect.

It is unfair for some hosts to force the jug pilots into dogfighting in them as they are WAY too slow in their current flight model and can't even run away.

But alas, the patch is coming...

Hello Vierbein !

I like the ground-attackers in FB and find myself flying the IL-2 and Stuka often.
In a Stuka vs. IL-2 setup the Stuka's only chance is to get a shot from below to the IL-2s radiator (if not flying the Ju87G).
Stuka may turn better, but IL-2 outruns the Stuka. Stuka may get on IL-2s six, but with the tiny machine gun the IL-2 cant be damaged seriously /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
On the other hand: IL-2 will waste a Stuka in a second.

If you have any tips for a Stuka-pilot (I would really like to know how to deal with IL-2s), please write some ideas and insights on how to dogfight in a Ju87 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thx - W75
