Recently I Upgraded to FB after having IL-2 for awhile. These last three-four weeks I have scoured this fora and it's been a real interesting read, sometimes sad but never less entertaining.

The PatchT went well for me after following tips found here especially running IL-2setup in default, running the sim then setting up again in setup - fixed sound and restored frame rate.

One anomaly I have and had never seen addressed here only applies to the I-16 and it's been present since ver1.0.

When started in flight I cannot deploy the landing gear.

After takeoff I cannot retract landing gear. Autopilot will retract gear and after I disengage autopilot I cannot deploy the landing gear for landing.

Its not a big problem for me as I am best summarized as an craptacular pilot and rarely last long enough to need to land for lack of fuel...

You need to set a key to raise and lower the gear manually.

I-16's are great fun! You have noticed that the flaps don't
deploy by the usual button, this is because the flaps were
lowered manually in the real aircraft. You have to go into the
game Controls, and look for the functions manual gear raise and
lower, and assign a key to each. The you have hit the key about
50 times to raise or lower the gear! Have fun.

ho! ho! This one always appears every now and then /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I was caught out by it too in the beginning. Belly landings were the order of the day!

That did the trick, manually deploy with mult keystrokes

thanks

Are you repeatedly hitting the "g" key? In real life the gear were retracted/extended by winding a litle gear, which is simulated (a little sillily I think) by having to tap incessently on the keyboard. For what it's worth, I've read that this process was not easy and the resulting movement by the pilot's arms and torso required to raise the gear resulted in the I-16 bobbing up and down on its initial ascent.
