My campaigns end at the end of Tunisia battle (may 43) and I have A LOT of planes, so, no P38 sorry ... (no B24,...)
Were there P38's in the Tunisia battle ?

BUT http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (it's one of DCG advantages) you can enter DCG squadron editor to add a P38 squadron if you want...

Thanks so much for this wonderful effort; I have been looking forward to its release since I first saw it mentioned here on the forums.

I have read the installation instructions very carefully, and have installed all three of the files, but the instructions on copying and pasting some of the skin files, from one folder to another, is a bit unclear.

Can you please tell me which skins, exactly, need to be copied and pasted?

What will happen if i try it without DCG or IL-2 Mat manager? Will it function but with historically incorrect markings/squadrons etc. or will it not function at all?

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Can you please tell me which skins, exactly, need to be copied and pasted? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yes : basically, all planes of 1 family will shear the same skins. Examples:
- Bf109f2 & f4 = same skins
- Bf109E4, E4B, E7, E7Z = same skins
- Bf109Es & Fs = not the same skins
- Bf109F & G = not the same skins

To help, I added little files (txt or no extension)in skins folders to tell "add here skins from another plane" .
Examples :
idem-blenheim-mk1-except-underblack (in Blenheim mkIV folder)
idem-110C4 (in Bf 110C4B folder)
idem-P40B.txt (in P40C folder)

I know it's a little boring, but if I didn't done so, the files would have been double sized http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Note that all my skins are recognisable by the sign "-" at the beginning...
Hope this help http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It can work without IL-2 Mat manager (no accurate skins) but NOT without DCG (DCG is the engine of these DYNAMIC campaigns)...

You could add your own skins to ALL squadrons in the campaign using the squadron editor in DCG, once the campaign has begun.

Not exactly, but not far from the truth either.

The P-38 was the P-51's equal, or better, in every catagory other than top speed and there the P-51's advantage was only from about 22,000 feet up to 27,000.

The sad fact is that no flight simulation, that I know of, has ever modeled the P-38 correctly. It would be the ultimate "uber-fighter" it it were modeled correctly.

You should be able to work around it by not selecting the Auto Generation option. Instead you'd have to play it by single missions by generating a mission after each mission. If people are familiar with Lowengrin's DCG they should know what I mean.

My favorite P-38 vs P-51 story comes from late in the PTO. A P-38 pilot hears a troubled someone cry out over a common frequency:

Pilot: "Help! I'm losing coolant and don't know what to do!"
P-38 driver: "Calm down and just feather it, buddy."
Pilot: "Feather it, hell! I'm in a Mustang!"

I like the one where a group of P-38s is coming back from a long mission, low on fuel, and are getting ready to land at their home airfield. Someone comes over the radio stating that he's coming in on one engine; that pilot is quickly given permission to land first. It is then that the P-38 pilots see that the pilot "coming in on one engine" is actually flying a P-40!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For those who downloaded the files and tried to play it:

Did you had installation/play problems or else ?

I know the installation and set up is not so easy due to the fact that it uses 2 third party programs, and I may have forgotten things in the readme file I wrote.

I planned to put on my website a FAQ page if necessary...
...so, please just tell me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As always, the key to getting everything in 3rd party addons right is to follow the designer's documentation; to the letter. Once I read and closely followed the installation instructions, everything worked just as designed...thanks GilB...once I have had a chance to try a few of the missions will let you know how it plays http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Having trouble - I appear to have successfully installed Lowengrins DCG, & had Mat Manager already installed, extrcted skins for this successfully too, then I extracted Med campaign zipfiles to ubisoft/FB PF. When I go to campaign start the Med Campaign option is there, alright, but after I've set up pilot & press the load/start button all I get is a "beep" & nothing happens ,no matter which part of a Med career I choose. What should I do? Haven't a clue?
Thanks!

You're right, a few people reported me the same : it's not enough clear in my instructions.
You have to enter in DCG, then, in "files" menu, you'll (I suppose) find the option "optional third party folder" checked... You have to uncheck/ re-check it, and in the new window which opens you point (double-click) to the MedWar folder.

Be sure that you're in autogeneration mode with ingame Dgen replacement.

GilB, got a couple of problems

First and most important, now that I've got DCG and all that setup, I can fly Med and Pacific missions, but when I try to start original careers eg Russian fighter (Leningrad) career, when I pick the aircraft and press generate, nothing happens, no even the beep. Also when I tried a German campaign, I think it was for the Med when pressing generate it came up with the mission No campaign.dcg file found. I think after I exited and re-entered DCG did it work.

My second problem, is not as important, but when starting the RAF Med campaign, there is constant British chatter in the background, which I though was pretty neat.....but it stays there with other Med campaigns, including Italian and German. I'm pretty sure I read everything I needed to concerning the sound packs, did I do something wrong or is it supposed to be like that?

To fly another DCG campaign (stock ones: means without "mediterranean war" mention) you just have to enter DCG, then uncheck "optional third party data folder" in the files menu.

But IF YOU want to fly some IL2 PF stock campaign (without DCG), you have to uncheck "replace in game generator".

I entered programfiles/ubisoft/forgotten battles/dcg,but found no "files" folder here, orotionalthird party folder either, while looking around in ubisoft/forgotten bsttles ,I did find Medwar41 folder, which I think is out of place? Perhaps I extracted files from your zip to the wrong place ( I extracted to ubisoft/forgotten battles only...)?Could you give me the specific place where I should extract files from zip-is it,perhaps to mission/campaigns? Okay...

skins packs have to be extracted in your IL2 PF folder (then, some skins have to copied from one plane folder to another -see instructions in readme file)

Campaign pack has to be extracted into Lowengrin's DCG folder (wherever you decided to install it) Check your DCG folder and you'll see a "MedWar" subfolder : it's ok ! Then :

You have to enter in DCG, then, in "files" menu, you'll (I suppose) find the option "optional third party folder" checked... You have to uncheck/ re-check it, and in the new window which opens you point (double-click) to the MedWar folder.

Be sure that you're in autogeneration mode with ingame Dgen replacement.

Please, follow exactly instructions in the readme.rtf I provided, and I'm sure you'll fly them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Need your help!

Alrighty, I went for a sortie in the Italian MedWar campaign, but I didn't have Replace Ingame Generator checked. On that particular sortie, I shot down 5 planes in my Cr 42, 3 Glads and 2 Hurris. However, when I completed the mission and went to the debreifing, the text was from a Stock campaign, and when I pressed apply and went onto the next mission, there was no map and no text. When I get into the career and press resume, after loading a bit a message saying No MAP found comes up.

My question is, is there a way to save my campaign, or will I have to ditch the 5 kills, delete it and try to get it again? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I suppose they did the job themselves http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Before on the General Discussion thread you said Il2 Mat Manager was not essential, thankfully so, as I have problems installing it. It was late at night, but IIRC after unzipping everything, which took more than an hour, when nearing completion, a message came up saying something about a missing folder or file or something, so I wasted HOURS of flying time! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Btw am thoroughly enjoying your campaigns http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm having the same problem; where nothing happens when I click on the generate campaign button, apart from the clicking noise.

I've used DCG many times in the past, and have just installed the latest version 3.12.

I've also unticked and ticked the third party option as you suggested, but it made no difference.

It's possible that I installed the campaign to the wrong places. First I installed it in the DCG folder, and also into the DCG folder within the RAF campaign folder where FB is installed.

I'm able to select the medwar campaign through DCG, and through the campaign window in FB, I just can't get the campaign to generate.

"...ticked the third party option..."
So, you pointed to the MedWAr subfolder found there ?

I didn't yet tested it with the latest 3.12 DCG version.
When installing a new DCG version, you need to tick again "Autogeneration" and "Replace in game generator".

Maybe, it's why it doesn't work ?

Dear GilB57 - this may be slightly Off Topic , but I'm curious( after some difficulties trying to get this to run, it appears to be functioning now-after one Mission that is...& putting shortcut to DCGon desktop) but why does this have to run thru DCG..I mean are there any outstanding reasons it is so configured? All the other downloaded campaigns I've done ( many, many) all seem to drop easily & neatly into the regular game folder/fromat & start easily from the game. This is the only one ( I'm aware of) that has this extra step( & somewhat cluny) of having to warm up the DCG & format it to be able to play these campaigns( even as good as they undoubtedly are...) So why do them this way? Now that i think I have them working ...I was just wondering, when you have a minute....anyone else feel free to answer....???

As I'm a french guy, I'm not sure I understand you well...
If you installed all as I said, the campaign runs exactly as any other campaign of the game...

Anyway, my campaign is DYNAMIC and DCG is the engine http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
