since i would have to buy a new computer because with mine i cant even play pf because i cant run perfect mode so i cant see the sea

i decided it would be a better idea to spend the money in old toys

for example ive just found a 425 pieces meccano with which you can build 3 different working clocks, its called the time machine, XD

do you imagine how many awesome toys could i buy if i forget about bob because i would have to get a new comp?

When I get a new computer after BoB comes out, you can have this one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

You don't play PF because you can't play in perfect mode? Yikes!

Anyway, BoB won't be out for a year yet. Start saving.

we don't even know what the specs are for BoB.

raaaid has a not very common issue with the quality of the sea in his PF. I personally don't have any with my AMD1.9+ATI9600+512MB, and btw that's what i'll probably also use for BoB. I'm sure it will be fine. Like raaaid I prefer buying other things than spending 1000 in upgrades every time a new game is released. And if my rig isn't enough I'll spend that money in something more fun, like gliding lessons or a trip to Mongolia.

and don't forget that WWI game the Gennadich team will release in a year. It will have more or less the requirements of PF.

AMD 1.3GHz Athlon / NV GF FX5200 / 512MB of RAM here. And runs OK, albeit with low(ish) graphic settings. And yes, works online too, if there're less than kazillion users in a room.

Will upgrade ASAP, nevertheless, because this rig is literally / physically falling apart anyway http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif You should see this POS "computer" - a tankful of laughs this junkheap here...

PF is still a great game with great graphics, even if you can't see the waves and dolphins.

to Raaaid: Make sure you use water=1 or maybe even better water=0.

And here's me with the barest (some might say far too under) spec machine spluttering along! Pity the poor man with a 797 mz p3 with only 256 RAM http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got a new computer, and i can't run perfect water, and to be honest i dont really care.
I'm fighting in the clouds, not paddling a boat, waves can eat me.

Like raaaid I prefer buying other things than spending 1000 in upgrades every time a new game is released.

Trust me m8 if you pay 1000 pounds for a computer you won't see a game that can not run on such rig on max details for a LONG time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
This is my rig(400 euro):
AXP-M2500+ @235x10
1GB DDR CorsairXMSC2
GeForce6800LE unlocked at 12,6 and oc(380/800)
Running perfect(1024) with 4xAA,4xAF, Kamikaze 45fps avg
So essentially you don't need insane bucks to play this game, I'm a student with a part time job and I could afford this with out problems http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

ok here's a good question, who's got the lowest spec PC and is still able to run PF reasonably!?? By that I mean able to fire back without a graphics lock up..lol

I think the above spec is the lowest I've seen so far!

i have my suspicious that software and hardware vendors work together

Thanks! i feel honoured with the dubious award of '$hitest system that mostly does the job' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Though everything is toned down obviously, with limited number of planes and so forth.
here's a screen shot.. not the best, but ok for my needs!

tbh I am looking forward to GT ww1 sim more. But BoB is BoB so I'm all in for that one too, another Oleg's baby... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
I wont be changing this computer in near future so if it happens that I play OM BoB on this PC (AMD 3200+) I will tone it down and play. Just like I did when I first played IL-2 Sturmovik on Duron 700 and nVidia TNT Riva...

Oh boy, that's marvelous. If you can run PF with that then I'll never upgrade my PC again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif.

Believe it.

If you are playing with less than 1 gig you are cheating yourself. 512 is barely enough to properly run the XP operating system alone.

You're looking at this backwards in two ways:

1) I don't run perfect mode either. You can still see the sea when not in perfect mode; the ocean in perfect mode doesn't even look like the real ocean in my opinion anyway, so whay should I waste the PC power on it?

2) When BoB comes out it will be time to consider a new PC anyway. It's not the sim BoB that will make this necessary. It's the passage of time that mkes it necessary. I didn't buy my present PC to run this sim; I bought it because my old one was so obsolete that upgrading it would cost more than simply buying a new higher end PC. In a year or so, I will examine upgrading this PC versus buying a new one

When I bought this one, it was 3 months past being 'top of the line'. I paid 700 dollars US for it- a savings of almost 50%, simply because the brand new CPU was .3 Ghz faster than the one in this PC. that was only 1/6th faster. Not worth over 1500 dollars. So I took 300 of those 1500 dollars and spent it on memory, and the sim runs smootehr with that simple upgrade than it would have with a CPU 7/6ths the speed of this one. Just do your homework and buy with your head instead of getting the newest shiniest sexiest brand new hot off the maker's assembly line PC. Buy the one that is just becoming the second best and save a lot of cash, then upgrade that PC to be just as good as the new 'best' one by only using part of the savings

that's my two cents anyway

going from 512 to 1gig does in fact help alot. as long as your CPU has the balls to back it up. 1gig will not help over 512 much at all if your using a P3 and a GF2mx. simply because your cpu is not able to procees enough planes in the sky or ground units and AA to make use of the extra ram. how ever if you have say a 2.0 P4 with a half way decent GPU "ti4200-9500pro" a full gig realy smooths things out.

What kind of boost can i expect from adding 512 to my existing:
P4
5200fx pci(old)
60GB
512ram
I can play online fairly well but in maps with lots of stationary objects it get low fps, and the game turnes into a slide show. How many fps would i increase in avg. from adding 512?
