Just bought Pacific Fighters, and I tried doing a search for this, but it never gave any results.

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb video RAM) and latest version of the drivers and directX installed, but I get no water reflections in this game (and I didn't get them in IL2:FB either for that matter).

I have the Radeon selected in the Pacific Fighters setup with all my video options on the highest with water=2 in my conf file, but still nothing.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Water=2 doesn't mean anything till you go into the video options (in-game) and select the Perfect option for Landscape.

You need to be running in OpenGL with Stencil Buffer on as well.

BTW: I would try water=0, water=1, and water=2 to see which works best for you. Although I can run all three, I prefer to play on water=0 because of performance issues.

Thank you! You're my hero! I was under the impression that you had to select DirectX for the reflections to work, not OpenGL!

Just tried it out. Gorgeous!

Many thanks! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

water=2?
i thought it was Water=3 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
i can run PF in perfect with my radeon 9550(on 'turbo' mode, which turns it into a 9600XT)
never got reflections in FB tho,do they only happen if you got AEP too or FB+AEP+PF merged?

This is what I'm seeing with my AMD64-3000 and a 128 meg 9800pro with water 1.

You may wish to turn off the reflections for realism, if you can turn them off.

Ocean water is too rough on too many scales ("fractal" maybe) to reflect like that, except under the most rare circumstances. That's my best idea of why anyway. Pond Water...yes!

Does anybody have pics showing ship reflected like this in ocean water?
Thanks~

I'd prefer water=0, in fact I used to run that because the ship and land reflections are so bogus... but I REALLY like the cloud shadows on water with water=1 that water=0 for some reason doesn't do.

It would be nice if we could get the current water=0 to have the cloud reflections, that would be great.

I admit Surrealist Art can be pretty at times, this is not one of those times. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Perfect Pond Water only reflects the diversion of development resources that could have created a Soloman Island chain map from Tulagi to Tuluvu.

Tuluwhat?

sweet read Czech it out

With only ATI~9200, I have interest in this, as my next upgrade will be to 9800Pro. I need to be able to turn the Surrealism option off, if possible.

Some reflections such as land have always been there, the ships and whatnot are new.

Water=3 only works on PS3.0 equipped cards so GeForce 6600 and 6800 only.

I have a Radeon 9800Pro and use Water=1. It looks like this and that's good enough. I usually don't have time for sightseeing.

Wonderful shot. That's more like it. But the water should reflect just a "smudge" or "shadow" of the ship at least, but not reflect tiny ship detail either. Something in between is what I am hope to see when I upgrade to 9800Pro.

CIVIL DOG can you be Civil and make that a click link? ...or re~size the pic?

thanks

Not sure if you guys are aware, but that picture is photoshopped. The water is a real picture of water, added to a screenshot of the game.

I don't know if that water in that zero screenshot is real or not, but one problem with that shot is the Zero's shadow. It is too flat. It should conform to the wave surface.

Thats is actually in-game water. It is only available with Nvidia 6xxx cards.
