So, I bought my new rig...probably the fastest computer out of any of my friends around here. Had a blast setting up Pacific Fighters, flying around on my old stick that I've used for years. Ok, after a lot of thought, let's go ahead and get that CH HOTAS system with the rudder pedals and the TrackIR device. Then one day I recieve an email, "The throttle quadrants aren't in, so your order will be delayed about a week". Ok, I said. I can wait a week, I said. Then my TrackIR device shows up...ooooooh, let's see what THAT looks like...it's this little tiny black thing on funky legs. That's it??? I hook it up, nice...have a chance to get motion sickness with this baby. Now, I gotta just wait until my control system gets here and I'll disappear for months. So, just this morning, I look out the window and to my eyes appears that wonderful BIG BROWN truck. I clamber downstairs, excitedly sign that nifty little electro pad, then haul my new big brown box upstairs. I eagerly open the boxes and neatly sift through the three components. Wow, there's a lot to this thing, let's set it up, give it a go. Everything in position, but wait!!! I look down at the spot where my new rig used to be, my fingertips tracing through the thin layer of dust that had started to outline it's shape on the floor. Where's my computer? My thoughts trail slowly back to an image yesterday. An image of me going to the repair shop, and leaving my computer behind because it had been having a small problem that needed fixing.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif So, I sit here in silence. My 19 inch LCD screen blank and full of sadness. I imagine for a moment everybody happily flying away on Hyperlobby and I do nothing but wonder if my rig even misses me. Oh, how cruel this life is at times....WHY do the young ones suffer?????

I shall now disappear into the shadow and visualize the enemy on my screen. I shall dive and climb and scissor my way behind your tail and happily remove you from office. Oh yes, to you I may seem a mad man without his machine, but to my mind's eye, I am the Ace of all aces for one brief moment.

Enjoy your freedom while you have it. The game will consume you, your money, and all the time you ever thought was yours.

Come to think of it...

Wait till your hard drive dies and you lose everything. Oh the fun you'll have then!

As you have so aptly shown, a moderate (not excessive) wait serves well to increase the excitement, and the ensuing enjoyment.

Just like it happens when waiting for the approaching ladies (substitute here the appropriate/preferred chromosome set)... But of course the ladies are so much better (and enjoyable) than the computers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Cheers (and enjoy),

Bones, the computer I was typing on was a laptop. I merely showed the CDs to it and it started whimpering. But, have no fear. I have recieved the blessed call from the Computer Hospital stating that my computer was fixed! So, as I type, I have just inserted the fifth and final CD to complete my installation and I'll be in the air soon. Mwahahahahahaha...

And Syrius, I heartily agree with your comment. But be assured that the so mentioned lady lives an hour away and I merely fly to pass the time between our meetings.

(Boy, it'd be great if SHE read these...I'd surely win points for that comment.)

Peace out.

Look for a bunch of black Chevy Suburbans parked near the computer store when you go to pick your PC up....

If you see them, it means they found your pr0n partition http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Can I suggest printing out this page (up to, but not including your comment in parentheses) and leave the printout upstairs when you're downstairs (or conversely), and then when she's around asking her to please fetch "that sheet with hardware-fixing instructions I got from the forums"?

Or, alternately, just stick it on the bathroom mirror one of those blessed nights after the happy hour. More blunt, but hey. (Since -not implying anything here-, some ladies don't expect gentlemen to be subtle, anyway).

Well, slo, be assured that the tears have long since dried up as I have my computer once again. But now I cry new tears because I have to learn how to fly all over again. I can't peg an I-16 in a 109 to save my life. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

And I must comment, while I'm here, that I'm pretty impressed that you managed to land a Zero UPSIDE down. Now, do that same thing in a B-25 on the Lex AGAINST the wind with your wheels down (or in this case, up) and I'll be more impressed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif
