i was watching a discovery channel show. something about "SECRET AIRCRAFT OF RUSSIA" during WWII.
one of the rocket aircraft looked extremely similar to a 80's or 90's "fictional"? U.S. aircraft model i built as a child. i would like to know more information about both. i have no clue either names.
the basic shape was, imagine a teardrop ir raindrop. the tyipical long slender point with rounded bottom. this was basically the TOP view of the aircraft, the point being the nose, and the rounded end being essential one hige wing...
make sense? anyone know where i could find the WWII russian version, or the "concept" us version?

Apparently this is some artist's conception of the "F-19 Stealth Fighter", but I dont have any info on any similar WWII russian design.

if i remember correctly the initial shape of rusian type was pretty much the same, but with a large single stabilizer..? and rocket powered.
what i gathered from the show was that Stalin had his first plane ride going to a meeting, hit an airpocket, and he felt aircraft were a joke. more or less. so his trust in AC was rather fleeting and a novelty.

Lovely model? Wrong! aircraft.
But hey!
According to Heisenbergs uncertainty principle.
This plane surely flew.(I mean the Revell rendition of the F-19).
And so therefore. You are no further forward in your quest.

WOW? I rememember waking up in the middle of this Thread. And thinking? Why are we looking at a Revell/Monogram rendition, of what we may think a Stealth fighter. looks like.
And then realising that is nothing to do with what the Poster asked? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

lol
the model of the russian one is not it, but very cool none the less.
the WWII russian version was in typical green camoflage like those found on the yaks. the frontal nose area had 3 or 4 inlets around the nose, just tiny little scoops.

Well, this isn't rocket powered, but it is teardrop shaped:
Moskalev 'Strela'

Or maybe the Kalinin K-15

I beleive it was the Moskalyev SAM-29 rocket powered fighter. In planform it was nearly identical to the SAM-9 linked in an earlier reply, but larger and with tricycle landing gear and an offset cockpit.

i looked at all the links, but those are more delta/ dart type. the majority of the body, was the wing. very similar to the model first linked abovem but with a sigle stab, and longer nose. but for the most part it was teardrop.
maybe someone else will catch the show as well. on discovery, called SECRET AIRCRAFT OF RUSSIA. or something ,like that. they said the name, but i was half asleep watching it. DOH!
