Hi to all, just getting back into our game after a long layoff. Good to see the community is still active after what ? Ten years ? Must be something like that. Also quite surprised at the quantity of beginner type questions which shows the game is still very much alive. Must be great to have a steady trickle of cannon fodder on HL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

One question I need to ask is about sticks and whats recommended these days ?
I used to have a MSFF2 and since its death have really struggled to get on with anything Logitech or Saitek. Is CH still available and if so are they still as good ?

Welcome back, isn't it a great feeling http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Can't really comment much on expensive joysticks, but i depend on my Cyborg Evo http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Does the trick, and well! Hope to see you online?

By all means CH is great stuff, but if you like the MFFB try and get a second hand one.

My second hand one is still going and I got it in 2004

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I thought about a second hand Sidewinder but I don't have a good track record with things used so I think I'll go for a CH combat stick.
I also like the look of the CH quadrant box for trim control but what is the general feeling on using trim control on a slider ? I remember a furious debate here many moons ago on the topic with the general feeling being that it was a gamey tactic. How is it viewed today ?

Won't be a target on HL until I smooth out some rusty moves but I will be there at some stage.

Actually I've been recalling some happy memories including my first online kill when I caught a 109G6 at the top of its zoom and shredded with my LA5, took a screenshot and got hit by flak http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The shot only showed my burning remains surrendering to gravity http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Holy mackerel... you have been gone a while. Trim on a slider is fine.. Oleg changed the trim adjustment a while back.. made it a little slower. There is so much for you to catch up on... brace yourself.. because if your last bit of contact was when trim on a slider was a debateable issue.. you might be infor a few surprises you never saw coming. Like
this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/7441010176).. which naturally leads to
this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/3471084176/p/1).... and of course there is this.. (http://www.simhq.com/_air11/air_341a.html)

Welcome back...

Thanks for that BC. I last flew just after 4.05 and as I cant find my 46 disc have been working through the earlier versions and have noticed huge changes in flight models and expected further changes but not in the modding side. Some of the skins in those links are absolute works of art !

I remember GoGamer dot com had some MS FFB sticks not too far back. Look on their site. Mayhaps one or two is still on the shelves.

I've decided to move on from the MSFF2, great for flying but the FF gun recoil was somewhat peeving so I turned it right down which basically defeats the object of it.
I know I could secure a second hand one from somewhere but I believe in giving myself the best tools available, no excuses then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Psssst there are mods for the gun recoil effect! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

For the stick forces alone the MSFFB2 is worth every penny. There is no spring that can do what that does. I feel damage due to the controls sometimes before I realize how bad it is. I never was a fan of the gun recoil.

I'm coming back in myself aster not quite as long a delay. Slowly trying to relieve my Warcrack addiction that has dominated my life for the last 2 years. SoW looks like its coming right along, I'm setting up a fresh install of 46 for some mods, and am happy to see some of the old timers still around!
