I just having a disagreement with member of another forum. He says that Pacific Fighter has sold only 80,000 copies around the World. Is that true?

Does any one know how copies of the Pacific Fighter have been really been sold up to now in the World market including my two copies.

This is a argument is about the Future of this Hobby since I believe in compentition and diversty and this other gentelman believes in only one Theater theory for future instalment of this hobby. His support for CFS3 is total and blind.

We alway disagree on this matter because I believe CFS3 is a good Simulator but not the only one. I also told him that Pacific Fighter Merge was a more complete Sim since it included the Pacific Theater.

Well he wrote that only 80,000 copies have sold around the World.

I just want to know if he told me the Truth.

I do not want to start a CFS3 vs Pacific Fighter argument. Thats been done before many times. I just want how many copies of the Pacific program have been sold so far?

I want know if what he wrote is the truth

Number of copies sold is irrelevent. How many copies are being played? CFS3 could have sold a billion copies but if only three people are playing it it is irrelevent. I know lots of people who bought CFS3 and put it away. How many copies of PF that sold is irrelevent as well.

But, you answered your own question with the statement that his support for CFS3 is total and blind. Why bother arguing? No matter what you find out he won't be swayed so don't beat your head against a brick wall and let it go. It isn't important. All that's important is that you play the one you prefer.

This could be somewhat correct number for around the world (with exception of Russia, Ukrane and few others ex USSR republic that covered by 1C) , considering that piracy of PF was outrageuos. UBI would probably know correct figures, not sure if they will ever publish them.

I'm curious, crazyivan, was most of the piracy done in China or was it elsewhere? I know the Chinese are very casual about non-Chinese copyrighted material.

Didn't the piracy start just before the official release date, with an employee in the reproduction facility? It was especially damaging because of this earlier than anticipated release.

Don't forget that Microsoft Corporation marketing muscle ensures CFS3 stays artificially visible on the store shelves long after releace and abandonment.

Most piracy was done in US and Europe, where users downloaded pirated copies.

In the US 50,000 copies were sold, this was a year or so ago.
Not sure of any other numbers. How many were downloaded? Plenty...

Thank you guys for your reponse. It really it does not matter. I still prefer Forgotten Battles/CFS2 over CFS3 any way. CFS3 is a dandy of a Simulator but its not the best or any or close to it. In reality there is no best cover all, unchallenged best a of all time Sim.It simply impossible to make one that will over every one"s taste.

I have over six install flight Combat Sims in my PC at this time and I fly with all of them. They all have some good things I like and some things that I do not like.

What I like most in Pacific merge program is the quality of its planes and diversity of options of scenerios and campaigns that I can choose to fly in and its quite numerous.Right now I flying over ten campaigns for several Air Forces. Friendly and Foe.

I do not like to be restricted to one Thearter or other. I like to be free to choose where I want and for what side. This program and CFS2 give me those options. That same thing I can not do with CFS3. Its a traditional Europen Theater base Sim. That drive me crazy. It does not even have a Eastern Front to fly with.

I still fly with CFS3 once in a while. Its has some nice features. Like been able to bee one of the turrent gunners inside of a B17 after I installed the Firepower addon. No other Sim give you that feature at this time with exception of B17 II.

I just hope that Future World war two Sims will include the Pacific Theater and the European Theater so we would be able to fly where we want and not be resticted.

How else would you know how a Corsiar or a Hellcat or perhaps a Zero or K43 Oscar and a Ki84 flies if you are retricted to the European Theater. You would be deprive of that experience. Not to mention the Sinking of a Aircraft carrier or defending one.You will be missing a lot of the World aviation experience.

Thank you for posting your answer to my question
