View Full Version : Patch Fix Request List

Since (strangely) I haven't seen any topic listing what needs to be fixed in the next patch, I decided to make one.

Post any bugs or change requests here for (hopefull) easy access.

1. The Type IIA and type VIIB/VIIC/VIIC/41 ships have the exact same crush depth of 178m.

A type VIIB shouldn't crush at the same depth as a Type IIA, it should survive until at least 225m but more realistic would probably be around 235m with maybe the small chance that it would survive until up to perhaps 260m.

It's important that you can dive to evade depth charges and just plain more fun if it's realistic.

Also, the crushing goes way too fast. By the time the Chief Engineer mentions that you're going too deep, it's almost certainly too late.

2. It's been reported that when you save during a patrol and reload it later, the upgrades applied to your u-boat dissapear for the remaining duration of the patrol.

3. Crew members have been known to get "cloned" o_o. People have also reported GAINING crew members while on patrol.

4. This is pretty small but I thought I'd mention it anyway: the volume of the grammophone, to me sounds too low. It'd be good if it was increased or a grammophone volume switch was implemented.

I have a request! How about making a patch so that it'll work on any graphics card!! I had gone out and spent money on a 128MB graphics cards a months ago. Only to find out that SH3 graphics display funny on it. Only to find out that I need an FX card instead of an MX card. That realy SX!! Why don't they support MX cards!! Now with my luck, if I go out and buy an FX card, the next game I buy will only work on MX cards!! What's the difference betweent the MX card and FX card? Why couldn't UBI allow for both? Lazy programmers?

No, they are not exactly lazy, they just would have to rewrite half of their graphics engine to enable DirectX 7 cards like the MX4 to show the game. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Nice thought this list.
But do you really think they care that much?
They would have responded to posts of people on this board if they did.
I must say this is a nice game but without nice support.

quote:
Only to find out that I need an FX card instead of an MX card.

No, you don't. You bought a GeForce 4 MX, and the "FX" card(s) you're refering to are effectively GeForce 5 cards, in all but name, i.e., the next generation up.

quote:
Why don't they support MX cards!!

Because, frankly, they're $hit. They were never designed for gaming, and like the FX5200, were designed to look good with their 128MBs of (underused) RAM, to fool people into thinking they were buying the best. Why do you think an FX5900u costs over 100, and an FX5200 costs 35, even if they have the same amount of RAM? Do the math, as they say...

quote:
What's the difference betweent the MX card and FX card?

They aren't even comparable. The MX cards are cut-down (budget) versions of the GeForce 4, with the equivalent performance of a GeForce 2, and the FX cards are an entire range of the newer (to GF4's) generation.

quote:
Lazy programmers?

No. Lazy gamer. Don't blame Ubisoft because you didn't take the time to research your purchase. 15 minutes Googling for info would have warned you against the MX cards.

Nope, they are Geforce 2 cards. Each Geforce 3 will be better and will be able to render SH3.

This is getting http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif , but whatever. It happens in every thread.
quote:
I had gone out and spent money on a 128MB graphics cards a months ago.

Some just don't know about the hardware in their systems or the specs for this game.
Sirsly seems to be one of those people I described in AngryManHere's thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=857101043&m=4821003103).

Now for something that's not http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif
1. Searchlights still 'manned' and continue searching while sinking/sunk. Classic-But is it cheating? (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=857101043&m=1311072103)
2. Ability to sink numerous Escorts by 'ramming' while at periscope depth with the conning tower.Classic-But is it cheating? (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=857101043&m=1311072103)
3. SP/MP REALITY modes: They're mislabeled. Since when has it been possible to 'reincarnate' your life when you die? If you die, your dead. Period. End of career/mission/life. Dead is Dead(DiD).
4. Inability to control engines seperately.
5. Inability to run on the surface w/Electric motors. Electric motors cant be used on surface WHY NOT!! (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=857101043&m=6291008103)

Mk-24 FIDO Torps - where are they?
Enemy submarines - where are they?
Fleet/Escort Carriers - Do they have patrolling A/C? If so, and it gets sunk, do the A/C still keep patrolling?
This has always been my most pressing question since playing SH2. Never ever did I see any.
They were THE cause for the end of the 'Happy Times'.

@ SS.DJSatane: http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Thanks!
I was wondering if there would be a list like this. Hopefully, it will be noticed by others.

The above links are only 'some' of the places where they've been pointed out. It would be nice to have links to where the 'problems' are being discussed added to others.

Hi the MP side really needs attention. The bug that means you have to alt tabb during conection.

Someone cleverer than me to creat more MP options possibly. Nice game though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
