What are you asking about, the bar or the plexiglass?

Are those things behind the pilot's seat what I think they are (i.e. bombs)?

No, they're bottles with oxygen for high altitudes.

They are bombs allright.
Also our Yak9B in the sim can take different bombs in the fuselage.
It's crasy but fun taking of with 100 or so bomblets.
Seldom used online though.

I like it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I believe he is asking why several of the Yak's cockpits have the curved section where the windscreen meets the canopy. The data he provided indicates it should be flat like the late model 9s that we have. Is this correct?

Dash_C. yes the cockpits are alreay poor or lets say from the orighinal il2 and they are starting to age now and the front canopy and seat are wrong .

Just looking to see what kind of yak9 do we have ingame for a 1942. The yak9 was the predecessor of the yak7D's drect from the late yak7B and Yak7DI .
The tests of the first production yak 9's showed that the fighter had retained it's exelent agility wich enabled it to outmanoeuvre any adversary.
At the plant #153 began manufacturing the yak9 from October 1942, along side 290 yak9B's ( new canopy drop-tear ), I pretty much resume here..
The yak9 were commited to combat for the first time dring the battle near Stalingrad ( second half of December 1942 ). One yak9 from the first serie batch #1 ( serial #0118 ) was transfered to have tests performed in Febuary 1943,
Wight 2870kg a speed @ sea level of 520 km/h and 599 km/h @ 4300m. 5.1 minutes to reach 5000 m in altitude. a full-circle banking @ 1000m of altitude in 16/17 seconds and in combat turn of 1120 of altitude. This was the first time that a production yak was equal to the contemporary Messerschmitts in vertical manoeuvrability while being superior to them in ease of handling in orizontal manoeuvrability. The yak1 and 109 G2 could accelerate faster than the yak9 from Cruise to max speed but the yak9 could be decelarate much quicker.

Some performances in game should be adjusted along the cockpit and wing design. the yak we have in game have wings from a 1943 model and cockpit of a yak1 early series.

yak9's from the second batch from April 1943 built at plant # 166 at Omsk the yak Serial 1102014 from teh production 11 batch 2, weighted 2840kg with a speed sea level of 539km/h, 577km/h @ 3810m of altitude and climb to 5000m in 5 minutes flat.

Anyway this is a quick resume.

Also i can add this as well in many occasions i see as in game that everyone talk about Production and prototype performance so i can add that the yak9U third second prototype and first of 107 engine is wrong. the yak9U 107 proto data in some places is wrong and confused with second serie of production yak9U 107.
