Boy, that thing was loud - didn't need a hydrophone to hear what direction this ship was. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

This happened 3 times, to me, now. I'm beginning to think, that I get too close to the convoys?

I know that ship is around here someplace, but the Hydrophone is giving me strange readings, must be a bug

I really like the part watching the ship sink to the bottom of the ocean in water that is not to deap. You get to see the boilers exsploding on the way down. And the ship break up when it hits bottom.
Or the scrape on my sail while a ship goes by so close he hits the railling. The depth charges that bounce and roll off my hull that where set for deeper water. They have done a fantastic job with this Sub sim.
I hit a destroyer in the bow last night that was going almost 30 knots, it did not even slow down , it just plowed into the water like a sub and sank in a few seconds. When the water hit the engine room , boom.

Yea if you like that type of sim, you are missing out big time on a great one.

Great game that has stopped me looking for patches from Oleg. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I have just been reading about tons of so called bugs with graphic cards on their forums. I have had zero problems so far (GFX 5600, 256mb). Game runs fast on my 3.06GHz P4HT, and using bog standard 1 Gig memory. I think that most peoples problems are down to too small page swap files settings in XP. mines over 1 Gig at the moment and the old girl runs so smooth. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hope your enjoying the game so far chaps!!

Yes, especially if you d/l the Airwolf patch

SHIII is great. there are a few issues however, not everyone is having an easy time with it-

#1- DVD only
#2- Some supported Nvidia cards (like mine) have a problem in which the binoculars show a white 'spray' if you use them while moving- Nvidia is reportedly on it

Check out the SHIII forums on Ubi's boards

Is it worth buying now, or should I wait a bit?

PBNA-Boosher... If you wait a little bit... you'll save when they drop the prices a bit. As far as anything else though... Game Patches or other Game related issues. I don't see much of a change... unless they come out with a Up-Dated Destroyer Command and merge SH3 and DC? as they did with SH2 and DC.

Couple of questions to sell me:

What about system requirements?(I have ATI 9600Pro 2.66 1024 RAM)

Do I have to be a brain surgeon to play it?(Whats the learning curve like?)

MEGILE

Your system looks good Goat..

I run it on a AMD Athlon 1.4ghz, Geforce 4ti4400 128, 512mb of RAM.

Game runs pretty smooth.. frame rates drop when a ship jis blowing up, and huge convoys hurt FPS too.. but then again my system is so old its not surprising.

As for the learning curve.. the basics are easy, the advanced stuff is probably hard http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
I know the basics, can sail about, and launch torpedoes.. but as for doing intercepts, using the hydrophone etc, i havent got a clue.
This is after 1 day of playing it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
