Well i think's been well over a year since the last time i flew on UBI's server.(havent since I 1st bought IL-2) And it took me about 5 mins to remember why i stoped flying there in the 1st place.
The whole place is filled with he most Immature bunch of Jackazz's you ever have the displeasure of meeting.
Forutunaly there were some sane ppl there that you would normally see on HL that are pretty cool. But by far & lardge most of ppl on ubi's server are rude, obnoxious jerks that dont have 1 ounce of honor in thier entire body. No respect for their fellow pilots what so ever!
The one bright spot of the whole situation was the Tx Squads OC3 server and i woukld like to publically thank them for the good time i had there tonight. it was great fun TX. thanks. S!~

But as far as for the rest of flying on the UBI server...i'll sum it all up this way. IT SUCKS THE BIG ONE!
I hope HL get's fixed soon. If not our squad will switch to IP games real fast. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah sorry copperhead!

Couldn't get round to firing up FB last night! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I use both HL and UBI and in my narrow/limited experience the people are about the same.

But then my times on UBI are GMT and that may be a different set of people on.........

Different strokes for different folks as they say......./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

hosting games is waaaay more laggy on UBI. the lobby is not user friendly. it is difficult to find specific pilots. the games dont give you details before you join. there are about ten items that are better on hyperlobby. and as i said lagg is horrible from ubi.

UBI is not normally like that. You unfortunately visited when the HL trolls were out. JV44Heiden in particular was making a complete asshat of himself. Nothing better to do but sit in the lobby for 6 or 8 hours and call everyone names. It was the worst I've ever seen it at UBI in the past 18 months and the only thing I can account for it is HL being down and people coming there to vent.

Doesn't say much for HL, IMO.

But, to be fair, the VMF guys are always ready to put their foot in their mouths and certainly did tonight. They are UBI regulars.

And yes, the TX-OC3 rocks. Best server in the known universe.

It's not even about getting banned man, it is about respect and how you carry yourself. Always keep in mind that you represent your squad when you post. Also keep in mind that while we may not like UBI or Hyper, in the case of others, we still must be respectful. Now personally I can't stand flying on UBI...but I don't proclaim it with an entire thread. And I really do not say things like this:"If it's locked... so be it. It they want to lock this thread let them..and if the do they can kiss my rosie red......." If it is that bad man just do like I do..Fly via ip instead. If you don't like the rude people, don't talk to em. If they actively try and engage you in an arguement just walk away and show you are made of better stuff. No sense in complaining/arguing/getting annoyed about something that will never change.

Interesting statement.

Most ppl flying on ubi since years think/say the same about the ppl using HL = Ubi is the elite while HL is (was) used by rude vulching kids.

Well, there are many hosts on Ubi and you will find out in short, where you can go to without meeting rude ppl, like I found out on HL after starting my career on the Ubi sever.

Cu in the virtual skys friend. As long as HL is down Ubi is for everybody still there.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I can underline that. I fly mostly on Greatergreen and most of the time there are nice people on it(Pilot quality is at least above average). The encouraged Teamplay and the near to FR settings makes it a enjoyable place.

no HL , no fun. I'm too busy actually even to test FB on the open beta.
Well,I think I will take a break in playing FB , actually any game at all. I will still buy Lomac when it comes up. my computer goes Linux again. Be seeing you.

On the ubi TX server yesterday there were two tk'ers, one on
each side, with a combined point score of something like -20,000.

I`m in the UK, but I can defo vouch on this experience- but on HL! A couple of times I`ve got back from work early, started up HL and wondered `WTH`s happened here? Everyone`s acting completely idiotically!`

So it can happen on HL too, just depends on times...

I`ll usually wait till later evenings.

I see HL as a lobby to play and UBi a place to chat in, Ive seen some unmature stuff over err the months /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif but still i think UBI peeps are mostly friendly.

Hl i cant say so much about in that department..i rarely ever look at the chat window i just fly there.

I have been flying on Ubi for years now, and I can say that there are quite a few people there worth talking to. In fact, many squads that fly on Ubi are some of the friendliest I have ever met. I have had good experiences with the WUAF guys in particular.

Like any internet gathering place, you are going to have your share of asshats among other things, but you said yourself you had fun on the TX server(a good one I agree, only the GR server I like more), so just focus on that and keep flying. S~

I do wish they had a way to check realism options on servers though. Seems ridiculous that you cannot.

Seafire - you put it so much more eloquently than I did!

Time of day, and the current HL issues have resulted in UBI being 'abnormal'.

And I really hate TK'ers too, first ones I met were on HL BTW!

Gee, I tried Ubi for a little while and I found the people quite decent. I was just not into the Matrix like warping which made dogfighting for me impossible. I have found HL slightly better in this regard but after trying Test08 online, 1.0 seems very warpy. Can't wait for that patch early next week, some great online flying to be had.

UBI will always have more " new to FB " people simply because it ships with the game

as far as skill orhard rooms to fly in is concerned......

UBI & HL are the same

I have only played on UBI as of yet, but I would like to mention that I have had really good experiences there for my first three times playing online. Two nights ago especially there was a player, and I can't remember his whole name for the life of me, it was along the lines of SPYDER.... or something. Anyways, he joined the server and imidiately asked who needed assistance, I piped up as I was out of ammo and being tail chased. He rogered me and jumped right on my chase's tail allowing me to land. Really made me feel good and almost a part of a team. My screen name on UBI is johnmilner so if you were the Spyder guy then I salute you! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I played as Tclayton on the UBI TX-OC3 server and have to say it was way fun to play with so many people. I saw alot of warping however, did'nt help though still got my kill haha. The last game I played was to much fun the bases had to be only few miles apart and so, we had a serious battle going on over head. I even sat in my plane just to watch for a bit. Good fun, I still like hyper but, UBI has not been that bad. S! to all who fly with honor.

It would be nice if Ubi let you use a number as the first character in your callsign.

I have to use Recon_609IAP in Ubi.

I personally would fly either one - I just wish more hosts would turn off that external view - just ruins the game for. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ubi.. from my experiences there(Thats not saying all of them)I've been witness to a constant barrage of the most inane teenage chat, sexual slander, racist behavior. At that particular time, and the 3 other times(Early afternoon, mid evening and late evening) The behavior in the chat was prototypical teenager. That being said,Hyperlobby also has it's moments(not nearly as rampant or frequent). As for being a place for new people to get together and fly?? Thats a good thing, because there are a lot of folks on Hyperlobby who have no time for Newbies(Noobs,Nuggets, lamers). That is not right. What I did see,on Ubi,is the old fearmonger of Galen Thurber and the outright lies representing what hyperlobby is.That is worriesome, because hyperlobby is a free lobby, just like Ubi,it is a far simpler interface, and DOESN"T require installing spyware, like UBI.Contrary to those Naysayers on UBI,Hyperlobby does not allow *powerfull* remote access to your computers.Never has, never will, all it is,is a vehicle to connect to anothers IP to fly a game.
Galen Thurbers rantings are due in part to his being booted from a squad on hyperlobby, and his subsequent, frequent, appearances(under alias of course) to harass and mislead users of Hyperlobby.

Personally,I'm glad there is another lobby to fly FB,and as for the ridiculous teenage chat??Ignore features work on BOTH lobbies:-)As for the game settings display's on UBI? Look up at the top of the lobby, slide the slider to the left under the list of games, settings for the game are displayed there. That friends list need help bigtime.Same as the player lists, not bein able to use your number in front of your name,is a strange rule.

"combined team scores of -20,000"?.If that was the case which I am not questioning at at it must have meant that the script that is run on that server was not working properly.Normal settings are set so that if a pilot goes over -800/900 or so it automatically kicks the pilot..as numbers like that are not a simple case of bad spawn points on a map. I apologise to any pilots that had to put up with team killers like that on our server.

First of all, in 18 months I have never seen anyone rant about HL ala Galen Thurber. Your misinformation you just posted would be the closest I've seen to it.

Second of all, there is NO spyware in UBI. It's just stupid rumour circulated by idiots.

The only thing close to it is a tracking cookie that comes from these forums. NOT UBI.COM GAME ZONE.

Adaware gives me these two cookies when I enter the forums here:

Adaware shows NOTHING from playing FB at UBI. Now, where is the powerful intrusive PC spyware????? And furthermore, when running a firewall, I do not get port scan attacks from UBI. There is no indication at all that the software can remotely access my PC. If anyone can prove otherwise, I'd like to see it.

- You can do that 2 ways..
-
- Hold your mouse over the icon beside server name, or
- scroll right, every options has a YES or NO

Thank you Sharx for pointing that out.-

i must admit i hear good things about hyperlobby - but i fly at UBI - simply because I am new to online gaming - and it was ready set up when i installed FB.

i don't go around Singing UBI's praises or expect others too - but it does really p*ss me off when people who have either never been to UBI or who have been and havn't bothered to look at things properly start saying it doen't do this and it doesn't do that - when it quite clearly does. sometimes posts in this forum can influence alot of people - so come on lets be fair guys. - Sometimes it seems like people say bad things about UBI cause it's 'the thing to do' -

to me the UBI interface is just fine - and i think you'd have to be a ****** not to understand it.

UBI is just a gateway like HL or GameSpy. Once your server is started, there's no way your server could lag more than any other interface.
