That's sweet! Very well put together. I've gotta go to class soon, so I'll have to take a more exhastive look at it later. We should have Oleg check it out /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I think it looks about the same (comparing polys to molecules). Its really hard to deflection shoot with a FW190 in FB...but that may have to do with the attitude flightmodel of the plane rather than the view out of the cockpit.

BTW, I wanted to thank CIRX for making this possible. The article/website is awesome for 190 fans like myself, lots of great pics/stories/info. I bookmarked the site so I can read it in it's entirety. They even used my sig of Trudgian's "Ice Warriors" in their links section. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I look forward to further updates/progess and I hope you can keep us informed if possible.

Oh, and I highly recommend everybody reading the article as it may answer some of the points being brought up here. The author clearly felt the 190 had one of the best views ever introduced in an aircraft (as opposed to one of the worst views, as in FB) and discusses it in great detail.

It also solidified the 190 as my favorite plane ever built, truly a work of art. The Tempest and Spitfire take a close second, with everything else being irrelevant.

Thank You.

You know, Oleg said that the FW model for IL2/FB may be the most detailed AC ever developed for ANY computer program. He seems very proud of this model in particular, and I am sure that he loves the plane as much as anyone here. I am a musician, and a composer. My best friend is a graphic artist. Any time that someone wants to alter one of my compositions, my nature is to take offence. It is the same way with my friend. As it is mentioned on the website, IL2 has no competition as far as this plane goes. Someone else may have taken a different approach to the way that it was modelled, and would have been no less (or more) acurate. The model that we have is the way that Oleg envisioned it, and we may as well face it, he is the creator of this beautiful piece of art, and has shared it as he sees it with the his customers. Let's just enjoy it as it is, and appreciate the labor that went into the creation of this extraordinary plane. For what I have said here, I may be called a "fan boy", which became a derogatory remark in these forums, but I don't care if anyone knows that I am a fan of Oleg Maddox. He is a pioneer in a brand new art-form that has never before existed, and his art has moved me in the same way that a musical composition does, or a beautiful portait. Great site, by the way. I really enjoyed it.

One does get the feeling this thread will be locked soon.
Oleg and team have studied the FW **** pit already before creating it for Il-2, and we already have Olegs answer on the matter.

Unfortuneatly, Oleg will not admit that he has made a very basic error in modelling the Fw's forward view. A junior in highschool drafting would not make that error.

The Ki-84 will also have this error.

How many other a/c have this error?

I also would like to thank Cirx for putting the effort into this. I know he has his own reasons but I appreciate that he took the time to share his work...the photo's are outstanding.

I for one don't think the in game views will be changed based on this information. I would like it to be but I think there are bigger things going on (or possibly none at all, depending on who you talk to) so it seems unlikely that Mr Maddox will overhaul the entire cockpit based on a 3rd party observation, especially considering (as someone else mentioned) that he himself feels his own work to be right on target. In the end, at least we have the more accurate FM which actually makes the plane competitive now like it never has been. I can live with the inaccurate visibility because at least now you can really get to where you need to be, unlike the old days.

The above being neither here nor there related to the game, I love the photo's and look forward to seeing more of Cirx's work on other planes. He seems to have a passion for warbirds and is a great photographer, I think he's going to put out some wonderful photos that we can all enjoy. I especially like his comments on FB...regardless of what his photo's have turned up he gives the game and the designer kudos for such good work to the game as a whole, another thing that I agree with.

Salute Cirx, many thanks for the photos!

XNomad,

You were very right about posting this link in a separate thread, I think it is more than worthy of getting a lot of attention, if only for reasons of historical authenticity. Plus: I think these pictures are nothing less than spectacular, to say the least.

Cirx,

I hope you get the chance to read this: thank you *very* much for making the effort, it is very much appreciated and so I say: very, very well done, sir, hats off to you!

As soon as my face returned to it's normal colour, after having turned purple for envy for quite a long time (j/k lol) I must say that I was completely stunned by the authentic feel of being *inside* an original WWII 190 pit. And a lot of my questions were solved "on-the-fly" just by looking at those photographs and reading your skilled comments and comparisons of this machine with other contemporary warbirds. All in all, it's simply mouthwatering and breathtaking material!

Now, how do I find a way of printing those pics in a lifesize format, so I can plaster the walls of my roon with them? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
