Please give the project to one of your staff on making the h75 and p-36 flyable, its should be a very simple job modding the p40b cockpit for the radial view.

If you need data performance i can send you finnish french and american charts for them.

thx finns and french im sure would love to have the plane in game and maybe some more scenerios including the emils. Thx if you consider this.

Aircraft manufactured by Curtiss or Curtiss Wright are not affected by the shady business with Northrup Grumman.

The P36/Hawk 75 would be a wonderful addition to the sim. It is slower than a P40, but climbs a bit better and will out turn it handily. Remember, some ot the first Zeros lost were under the guns of P36 pilots at Pearl Harbor.
And it will out turn a Spitfire I.

As to using the P40 cockpit, this is where your plan falls to the ground. The P40 was not just a P36 with an Allison V1710 tacked on to the front. The cockpits are quite different, and in fact the structure of the aircraft are very different, even though they share external similarities. Oh and the P40s were flush rivited, the P36s were not.

The P36 could dive like a banshee though...

I don't know which P40 model you're talking about...
but the pictures of P36 cockpit I have look really close to the P40B/C cockpit we have in the game. Maybe it's because they use a P36A as a base for the XP40 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I sure hope that is the case. This is what they state in their web site ( http://www.curtisswright.com ) :

I hope they don't sue me from copy/pasting that text from their site.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Hurri-Khan, notice that in that disclaimer they did not say anything about images or representations of their products. They only refer to their logos...

And yes the early P40 cockpits are similar, but they are not exactly the same as the Hawk/75 and P36. Also remember that French Hawk 75s would have very different cockpit details from the P36. The French opposite throttle operation being just one.
So to implement this aircraft in game would require two different cockpit models.

The RAF had a few in Burma as well.

The Hawk 75 actually acquitted itself quite well agianst the Emils, considering the small number that actually were in service at the time.

Somebody was working on the P-36 (maybe Planeeater?,) but the project was called off.

There was a post about it a while back. I was dissapointed because I've been wanting to fly a Finnish Hawk 75 campaign for a while.

About the Hawk-75A, french pilots found it clearly superior to Bf-109-D they meet during the early war between sept 39 and spring 40. The Hawk had a better dive speed with very good controls in dive. In horizontal plan, they found she was able to take Bf-109 tail in a single turn. Structuraly, she was able to sustain a lot of damage from light machinegun.

When they started to meet Bf-109E, it changed quiet a bit. This 109 was much more powered and had canons. Even with new Hawks introduced, this 109 was still faster and outgunned them. Anyway, most of the fight were in dive and Hawks still had better controls at high speed than 109.

the hawk75/P-36 must have been one of the most widespread fighters of WWII, used on almost all the different war theatres,

Some countries that used them

Netherlands East Indies
China
Norway
Portugal
USA
Thailand
Finland
France
France(Vichy)
Brazil
GreatBritain
South Africa

Bring it on!

The fantastic model is such high quality compaired to many existing flyables its a shame it is ai only, also as for skinning the P-36 and H-75 have some of the best and unique color profiles out of any ac.

It would make many sides happy to have this ac flyable both axis and allied.

The h75 p-36 and d.520 would be great additions to the game and seen large numbers of production.

Dudes and Dudettes, the hawk75 project has been going on for MUCH longer than this thread was produced. I started a campaign for it when the plane was first added to the game. Bluestone75 is working on it, he's just having trouble finding sources.
