Hello gentlemen, good day to you all.
Can't get connected with Il2 Hangar anymore.
It says: Forbidden. You don't have permission to access /il2.shtml on this server.
Apache/1.3.27 Server at srm.racesimcentral.com Port 80"
Probably this is a result of using XP-Firewall settings, or Spybot or Ad-ware in a inadequate way. How can I get back this useful link. Any suggestions?

Sadly the site is no more. The last I heard they were looking for a new host.

The good sites are normally started by people that are immersed in the game and truly devote a lot of time to the specific game. Most of than not they are hosted on person private webspace. As the site grows and it becomes more popular, so the traiffic to and fro from the site increases dramatically, MORE TRAFFIC = MORE MONEY, if you dont have a sponsor.
A few great sites have gone by the way side already becuase of this, not only Il2 type sites.
Lets hope that they get a new host.

Thanks for the support guys, yes the site is down, still looking for a generous soul to provide me webspace.

The site is about 100 MB now, 80% of that comes in images, you know each mission pages has screenshots of them. The rest is missions bundled in zip for each campaign.

It's unfinished business, also my new job is quite demanding in terms of hours spent, meaning less time devoted to IL2 FB. The spare time I was devoting was creating more historical mission, but hadn't much time to make bundles of mission with different planes for the offline players. And worst to make pages with screenshots.

The best solution would be for someone to give me a hand doing the conversion of online to offline mission (different planes), taking screenies, then puting that on the site.

The site is layed out in a way that its actually easy to create new mission pages, it's like a template where you fill each pages with text and screenies.

So the priority now is to find a webhost, then try to fill the site with mission I already have, completing campaigns where all we need is make offline mission for each camp - with different targets, to be playable - then I would be up to date.

I have Operation Bagration, the operation where it transported on the Lvov map, also I started Lake Balaton in Dec 1944 where the Soviet made the drive south-west of Budapest, then it would naturally carry on in 1945, where the Germans gave the Hungarian a hand, this lead to huge loss of men for both camp, basically we can say it was the era where the defenders on their knees gave a last effort to defend their homeland.

I still have more to do, Leningrad in 1942, 1943, but this is very difficult since I'm without any good reference of battles, not until where the Soviets started the major offensive to free the area of Germans in 1944.

Ciao all

Eric

IL2 Hangar was a great site.I could spend ages just looking at the screenies and I loved the attention to historical accuracy with the missions. Bring it back soon!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
