I have been using a throttle quadrant for years now and it never occured to me until today, I wonder what direction people assign their Power and Pitch controls?

I have mine set so pushing the levers to the front/top give me 100/100 and pulling them back/down give 0/0.

Is this common?

Just curious how others have their HOTAS assigned...

I think a few Il2 aircraft including some of the Italians may have had the throttle the other way in real life HOWEVER most real aircraft are forward (towards firewall) to increase throttle so it makes sense to do the HOTAS the same way.

I do it the same way.
