The use of a fresnel lense (pronounced frayNELL), which is basically a flat magnifying lense that you can attatch to the front of your monitor. It gives the illusion of a larger display, A MUCH LARGER DISPLAY, that appears behind the monitor (close to infinity) rather than just 2 feet in front of you.

A fuller description is here (http://www.rickleephoto.com/rlcoll.htm)

Would be interested to know if any sim enthusiasts have tried this and if it is worthwhile...

Well, the concept does seem cool, but at the same time, "ghetto".

Nice idea - but: You'd better make sure you have a PC that can handle massive amounts of Full-Scale Anti-Aliasing - which means a GeForce 6800Ultra/X800XT, 1GB/2GB RAM, 3.2GHz processor. Every pixel that hasn't been anti-aliased is going to appear MUCH more jagged if you're zooming in with a Fresnel lense.

And if you can afford all that, why not just GET A BIGGER SCREEN.

The 21" LCDs with a native resolution of 1600*1200 look nice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The only way to true mega screen pleasure I have come across that doesnt end up looking like some cardboard and duct tape monstrosity is to use a proper projector and as soon as I can bloody well aford one I will get one.

Hell after all the money we spend on this particular genere of gaming the price is hardly an issue.

If you realy need to try it then nip down to office world or similar and buy a document magnifier as that is all a fresnel lens is and its a **** site cheaper.

Most of those sites that advertise it are a bloody rip off.
