Hello all,

It is May in the summer of 1941. The world is at war and although our glorious Motherland has a non-agression agreement with Germany, your IAP is maintaining a sharp training regimen. We are training in the Polikarpov I-16 Ishak. Last night a flight of four IL-2 Sturmoviks arrived, and this morning a Li-2 transport escorted by LaGGs is arriving, so keep an eye out for traffic. You are scheduled for early morning flight training. The commander is tired of go-arounds and botched landings, and not at all happy with taxiing. A lot of pilots are still dipping wings on the takeoff rollout, so the whole unit is focusing on the basics.

<hr>

I've made a training track for the I-16. It is 12:52 minutes long and 679kB. The large file size due to using an online track, which I will try to avoid in the future since it is large to download and also requires giving a time offset for the training comments. The track begins with starting the engine, controlled taxiing, takeoff and landing. Comments are provided to explain what is happening and give advice hroughout the track. Installation instructions for training tracks are provided in the zip file.

Cool stuff. D/L just to see (cos I like I16). You are aware you`ll probably need to change all this in about a week?

Good idea. If he waited to upload it to the file section, we wouldn't have seen it for months. I submited three training tracks for the P-39, and that was two months ago. There haven't been any updates there in a long time.

Death is just nature's way of telling you to watch your airspeed.

If it is true that the online tracks record the position of aircraft and do not rely on recording the controls inputs, then no I will not need to change that particular track when the patch comes out.

I talked about this yesterday with a friend (SKULLS_Yanev) and he had a great idea. Remember in IL-2 that few people watched the training tracks after the patch came out? When people got the game they patched it immediately and then the tracks did not play back properly. Yanev's idea was to record the tracks as online tracks, and then make them available as a replacement for the original (conventional) tracks. The playback should be correct and folks wouldn't have to have two versions installed just to see the training tracks. It seems like a good idea, although some of the longer tracks might make for fairly large downloads.

Regards,
Mike
