Sorry for posting this, but I was just replying to your topic when I noticed that your thread is gone.

Anyway I tried the mission out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
Good mission. However nasty W-Cat shot me down lol.
However fps is an issue for me only if I get in accelerated time mode or time skip mode, then stuttering is encountered.

Also if I may suggest that your briefing while it is sufficient may be a bit 'enhanced', something in style:

"Warriors! Our recon aircraft spotted an enemy fleet in the vicinity of our naval group and our high command, after being informed of this, decided that we should take advantage of this unexpected situation and attack the enemy fleet. This attack if succesful, will turn situation in xxx sector in our favour.

You as an experienced flight leader, are choosen to lead four wings of our D3A bombers and you must show the rest of the pilots way to the victory.

After takeoff keep at 260kph so that the group can form up. Once formed, position yourself behind and to the right of the Shokaku group. They will lead you to the American carriers. Once sighted split and attack both carriers. Sorry but we can only send six Reisen to escort you. All the rest must stay behind for fleet defence just in case.

So this is your chance to distinguish yourselves -- failure is not an option. Good luck!"

Oh hey, thanks for replying. I deleted the topic as I revealed my project a lil' too soon and decided to make a few changes to it.

As for the briefing...I only did that so the player kinda has an inkling what to do. The "real" briefing will be much better w/historical data, date, weather, formation position, etc...

As for the mission, in your opinion was it too long? I wanted the player to be able to join in formation with the rest of the Val group and have plenty of time to climb to 4k before meeting the enemy.

And was the fighter/aaa cover effective or did the bombers easily get through? I've normally had 4-6 bombers go down and about the same damaged.

And what were your results, bombing wise? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW what settings do you run PF?

Thanks again. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I run PF at 1024*768 16color. Not some fancy VGA FX5600. Other specs Athlon 3.2, 1GB RAM.

Mission isn't too long it is good, on the contrary my concern was (when I saw map) if it isn't too short http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. But that map is large so distance is good. I didn't checked the altitude of B5N bombers, however they need to fly significatly lower than D3A bombers since they are carrying torpedoes.

I didn't went thru my intended bomb run because some trigger happy F4F ai shot me down http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.
I have only one suggestion, maybe to delete SBD flight since they are not participating in bombing actions, simply for few fps more.
On some machines even worse than mine that could be a problem tho.

Ok... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

SBDs historically during the the battle were used for defensive purposes against the Kates.

Kates initially flew somewhat lower than the Vals and then when nearing the target dove and assumed attack formation. Tho I guess they could be lowered even more. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
