I remember a discussion of the performance stats for that thing that took place on these forums a couple of years back. The results were inconclusive. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

OMG, BIOLOGICAL WARFARE!!!

Just imagine how many germs those things are carrying. Add to that the fact that it'd be too small a target for AA fire, and you have a sure fire TERROR weapon.

Sad thing is that the flies will be "Happy" to destroy the world.

You know, thinking about it, that's pretty **** sick. Imagine how people would react if it was talking about glueing say, some dogs to a car to pull it.

Well it are just fly's. Ugly annoying insects which deserve no better.

If you were to tie dogs on your car and drag them that would be something totally different then flys on a matchstick IMO.

but really!!! would be so cool to have like 3 or 4 of those flting around in your room at a home party. and make them a bit bigger with 6 flies each!

LOL! I just sent that to our office emtomologist. He is a licensed pilot as well. I am awaiting his reply on it. We have a fly problem in our office and as a practical joker he might utilize those plans, hehe

It reminds me that I used to do almost the same when I was a kid!!
Except that I built single-engine, sorry, single-fly airplanes!
I did not use a match for the frame, but a thin ear of wheat cut in half, some 3-4 cm long, and very light paper for wings and tail. I did the glue myself with water, vinegar and flour (no glue in the village at that time!!).
However, I think there is an error in the instructions above: if you glue the flies by their legs they won't fly anymore, at least the insects I used. I had to glue them by their belly to make them work.
It was fun!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I also used to fix small plastic tanks on scarabs for ground operations, and then bomb them with petards!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
Yes, I was a monster!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Are these fly-planes usable as a weapon? If you somehow let enough of these small things into a room, will one of them eventually hit something, ignite the matchstick and set the room on fire? Could be worth a try!
