I posted this in the mission builders forum, but hardly anyone is in there. So I'm posting it here:

In the Full Mission Builder, can the starting altitudes be changed for a DF mission? I'd like to make a DF server where pilots would start at 5k or so if they wanted to, vice the usual 1k. This would allow more high altitude fights, where more and more people seem to be flying with the introduction of the P-51 and improved P-47.

If this can be done... how?

If not, this would be a good addition!

To the development team..

I, and many others, agree with Crash on this. A variable air-start alt would be a great boost for DF gameplay and would be a good way to reflect all your efforts in a/c FM over the full alt range for each aircraft.

I really think that this is one of the more modest requests going around but one with great potential +ve impact to gameplay.

I think something simple like an .ini file line

AirStartAlt = 5000

or editable equivalent would suffice, The effort of integrating into the full user interface isn't really as important as the capability IMHO.

Not a huge fan of airstart dogfights but this is a good idea so I'll BUMP it! Should not be to hard to add this feature if not in the patch then possibly the expansion pack. Having airstarts above 5000meters with longer then average flight times between bases plus fighter/bomber escort multiplay dogfights might just turn me into a fan of airstarts /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It would allow people to fight at high alt without all the extreme bordom of climbing. Flying for 20 to 30 minutes to get to high altitude is more like FS2004 than I care to get. Someone would have to pay me to put up with that! LOL

Absolutely!....

Also, just think of the eye candy... all those con trails at high alt.. then the furballs will even look like their namesake.
