Well i had it unchked then i rechked after messing around...
Funny thing is it said the effect wouldnt take place TILL i restarted the game....

If i remember correctly in all the games i own that has v-sync option not once has it asked me to restart the game...

Thinking there might be a bit more to it in regards to the restart option .....http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's not v-synch because I'm getting tearing on the mast when I fast-pan.

I'll take the only stab at this I know of. Rome Total War has a similar setting called the same thing. Turns out it is/was to synchronize the video animations to the sound, so that tramping feet for example, happened when the feet were hitting the ground. W/o the setting, the sync was not together. Some claimed that disabling synchronize in RTW, provide a definate FPS boost.

Subsim FAQs says it is a way to attempt to lock your frame rate at the refresh rate of your computer settings.
