Finally I have some good news for all of those that are having this problem:

It has been fixed !!!!

After alot of testing, data gathering and almost sending one of the TIR beta testers into siezures, we were finally able to get some concrete data for the TIR devs to send off to Oleg. Oleg sent a fix for us to try out and we have yet to have any FPS hits with this fix. We have been told that this fix will be included in the next patch that is slated for sometime in Jan.

S~ to all and I hope this makes some persons day http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PS. Best Wishes to everyone and their families durning the holiday seasons. Be safe and enjoy.

Thank you, SPaRX, you're the man!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Is there anyway to get that fix before the patch? Like via e-mail since patch tends to be delayed behind the schedule.

I'll patiently wait for your answer. S~

Unfortunately no it is not possible TooCool. This fix is in IL2's code and therefore needs to be released by Oleg and his crew. He has told the TIR devs that it will be included in the next patch. Sorry, wish I had a better answer for you.

I can tell you that myself and another beta tested tested this fix quite extensively and we were not able to get the FPS hit. We flew for 6 hours one night through about 4/5 map changes and our FPS stayed rock solid. So we are pretty confident that the issue has been resolved.

OK. Thank you for your quick answer.
I can walk around the problem(by restarting the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ) so I will wait for the patch.
Now my only complaint for IL-2 series has gone.
Thank you again SPaRX for your efforts.

Sparxx, while I never had this problem, I salute you and your testers for all your efforts, and Oleg for acknowledging the problem and coming up with a fix.

Could this be one of the reasons that the next patch is later than many would have liked? It goes to show that things are going on behind the scenes that most of us don't even know about. Maybe this will quiet some of the whiners a while, though I really doubt it.

Let me tell you guys, it was on interesting ride. It's so hard to convince someone of something when you dont have it in black and white for them to see. Being that I don't have access to IL2s code or TIR's code, it made it really hard to get Oleg and Naturalpoint to understand there was a problem. What made it even harder, was it's not easy to duplicate. Well, it is easy, you just need alot of time to do it. Most of the time, people that were trying to duplicate the problem just didnt go about it how we were explaining it to them. Then they would just say they didnt have the problem. Honestly, I am 100% sure that everyone was effected by this, just not as severe as others. The problem was not system dependant at all. I had 3 completely different PCs over the course of this problem. It all depended on what settings you were running the game at, the settings of your video card, how well your PC was running. The higher your game and video card settings, the more severe the FPS drop. But anywho, with the fix we tested, the issue was resolved. Infact, the fix we tested impoved the TIR performance in IL2 considerably. Panning is ALOT smoother.

So let's all hope that Oleg gets this out too us soon. I cannot wait to be able to play online without FPS hits. Its been along time coming.

S! all and have a safe and happy holidays.

Right, SPaRX, it was really a sad thing when they didn't believe it and didn't tried just as we told them and kept saying there was no way of replicating it.
Anyhow, 1 and half year of hunting the problem has settled down. So glad this one get caught before the end of 2005.

Thanx SparX for your effort. Even not noticing problems with TIR myself, additional smoothing will be welcomed.

So, does it mean Tir finally pans as smooth as mouse?
You know, there was always subtle gap between the two.
I thought it was in the code which interprets 2 inputs different.
I can't wait to get da patch. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

While I have not experienced this issue either, I've followed that thread on the Naturalpoint forums intently. Kudos on hanging in there that long Sparx. Just one question: what in blazes was the problem? It felt like watching an intense crime series thriller only to miss the last episode. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Chances are you can't reveal much, but I would so love to have an inkling of what the issue turned out to be in the end.
