View Full Version : I-16 spotted in Dallas traffic. Anyone know what it's here for?

In a traffic jam on I-20 East on the way home from work, I spotted an I-16 being transported on a flat bed.

Does anyone know more about why the plane was/is here? Is it going to an airshow or museum in the area, or was it just passing through?

Any ideas?

Yes, this came up during the thread on restarting the I-16. Somebody in the States bought one from the collection of restored I-16s in Wanaka New Zealand. Cool eh?

Well yeah ... if it flew there, many people would think the neighbors stole their lawnmower /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

FYI: Actualy two I-16's and an I-153 were purchased from the New Zealanders a few years ago by CAF Col Reece (Cal) and donated to the CAF.
The aircraft are at display or fly at airshows and are based in Texas.
Below some pictures: "White 28" and "White 45" I-16's and "Red 16" I-153.

Wow you guys are on your toes. The guy barely leaves his driveway and someone here writes about it. The next person writes and says who he is and where he is going!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
