Just wondering if there is anything in the works for a WWI flight sim from Ubisoft? I was thinking that there are not too many out there and if you developed one using the IL-2/Pacific Fighters engine, it would sure fill in a gap of good WWI sims. The last decent one I remember was Red Baron 3D.

Ubi's just the Publisher. 1C:Maddox Games made the sim

But infoprtunately, no WWI project is on the radar screen. Their project is another, better WWII sim

a good ww1 flightsim, based on a modern game engine, is a thing i really dream about! and i think im not allone. what comes after maddoxx coming game "battle of brittain" ? sure, a couple of addons. and whats next?? a boring, modern jet-simulation, with maybe 1000000 knobs you have to learn before you can think for takeoff?? i buyed "lomac", try it, an sell it. i dont want such garbage on my pc, sorry. or comes another new ww2 flightsim, with a new better engine??
its so much time gone since the release of red baron 3d, so we have a really fresh and unspent
scenario. flying in this old ww1 planes is always some really special. i think about the fights in RB3. you allways need to have the condition of your aircraft in mind ( much more than in il2 or in ww2 reality, i think). when you dive behind your oponent - you hear the "creeks and cracks" in your wooden wings. i remember that i first lost many aircraft, cause im flying to fast and the wings just bricks away! and wind and weather are much more a part of
the game as with the "modern" streamlined and highpowered planes like in ww2. i dream of such a "realistic" game like il2 fb or the coming successor "battle of britain" with a ww1 scenario. all what maddoxx games have to do is
making new maps and aircraft an a new flight model for this aircraft.the engine can be the new one for BOB. sure thats much work, but im not the onlyone who wants to spend his money for such an produkt!!

This is the only WW-1 sim, that hopefully, will be the next based on the CFS3 engine.

Check it out: Over Flanders Field (http://off.oldbrowndog.net/index.htm)

I really, really wish someone would do a WW-1 flight sim as good as Oleg's IL2-PF series.

nooooo! wings of war is not what i called a flight
simulation, its a simple arcade-style 3d shoot em up game - i played the demo and it was defenitly not what i want! an, sorry, the other game is based on the cfs3 engine - cfs3 was one of my biggest misbuys - i buyed it cause il2 sturmovik made me hungry for more flightsimstuff - it was only a big disappointment for me, not worth the money i spend for it. i want a ww1 sim from maddoxx games, because they are the onlyone i know who can make it really god - or they go an other way an make some money with gameengine licenses and some other developer can make a sim based on this engine. arrgh, i love ww1 flightsims since the amiga-age. someone must do this job....im not a programmer - the only thing i can do is go to church and pray for a good ww1 sim......;-)

Totally agree with vonStahlhelm about wings of war.
OFF is the best offer we have coming yet, looks pretty cool and the people behind it do their best to fulfill our expatiations.

However it would be great if Oleg and his team made a WW1 sim using this game engine. Then for the first time in simulation history they could again add the east front http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Only this time in the WW1 era.
Surely hope you Oleg or one of your team workers read this!!! There are many WW1 simmers out there who is looking for a new sim, many still fly RB3D a sim from 1998 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

i take a look around at this site but all the games are looking ¤hh........cheap!i got some of this **** as demo , cheap graphics and boring gameplay..
maybe they do a good work with this ww1 sim, i hope so, but looking at their released games makes
me think they are not good enough to do this job really fine!
but looking at "over flanders fields", the ww1 addon for cfs3 remembers me at my biggest point of critic for all maddoxx games - they are one of the most unfrendly games for third-party addon- and modmakers i know. ok its an other genre - but when i look at "operation flashpoint" and its countless number of good addons and modifications , made by a great base of fans of this game....ofp's open engine is one
big part of the success of this game!

I have Wings of War on my PC, and it is disappointing so I only fly it occasionally. The graphics are very, very good; the aeroplanes are very nicely done. But that is where the positive ends. The flight characteristics are totally unrealistic; the scenery, although the detailing is great, bears no resemblance at all to the trench landscape; as said elsewhere, it is too arcade-like though admittedly the official patch does improve things slightly in this respect. There are also several unofficial third-party patches, but I haven't tried any of them yet so I can't comment on their effects.
It's a shame, because the graphics alone made buying it worthwhile (especially for only 5 Euros http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). But overall, it doesn't even come close to the IL2/FB/AEP/PF series.
I also tried Red Baron 2, but that was hopeless- graphics were terrible and a real turn-off, so after one flight I removed it from my PC. Perhaps Oleg has spoilt us rotten.........

I've bought RBII years ago and I still play it. I've been hoping for a new WWI sim for a long time. I think there are features in RBII that would do much good to even this game, offline campaings for example. In RBII there's truly some meaning for you being an squad commander and to choose right pilots, keep them alive and still not to burn them out. I'm still waiting, confident that sometime this will happen.

I've been keeping my fingers crossed for years!

Someday...someday.

Until then, however, just have to make do:

The IL2 engine would be nice, but perhaps a WWI sim needs a more detailed ground.
You can always try something silly like this... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

They used to be at IL2skins... Now, they are nowhere--but I can email them to you! I have many, many more than depicted here, and I'm always up for requests. PM me as to where you'd like me to mail them.

Here's a link to a thread from a couple of months ago. lots of screenshots here of various WW1 sims/games and links to movie downloads from Wings of War, which is quite good when fully patched (well, depending on what you compare with). Look at the screenshots on the link!! The movies YOU CAN'T MISS!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
