Depends on my mood.

Lockheed F-104 "Starfighter" if it sucked Jet A-1.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190 if it sucked normal gas.

I think that this is one of the prettiest biplanes out there. Only building an 82%, why not go for 100%? Powerplant? Cash?

So many choices I have:

WWI = Fokker D7
Pre-WWII = Hawk or early Grumman biplane
WWII = P-38
Korea = F-86
Vietnam = Huey Cobra
Present = F-16

I want to say the P-38 but the complexity might make it less enjoyable. Would therefore maybe go with the P-51 or Spitfire. (Spit's got grace, got to give it that)

If we're talking modern, there's not a question. The Raptor would be my ride. It's just one hell of a flying machine.

(Or the SR-71. When you're in a hurry, nothing says "I'm gone" like the blackbird)

My father had a Luscombe Silvaire that I always loved. We took it from Hartford to Pittsburg and back a few times when I was a kid. Those were some grueling trips, let me tell you. Dad's was not nearly as shiny as this fine example.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b39/wilburnator/Silvaire1.jpg

But if I could have any plane I wanted it would have to be one of these babies...

If money ws not an object it would be a series 81 Curtiss P40.

If money was only a minor object it would be a Bellanca Viking.

If money was really an issue a J3A Cub would work just fine.

But if I was stupifyingly rich I would commission a replica Ki-61

I am building one. Project has been on hold since sept 2001. I have a partially built Stolp Acroduster 1 (rare). Will resume work next year in Fresno CA. Still needs: Wings covered, engine and prop purchased. Have most Inst already. Has almost everything done: Fuse, spring steel landing gear, brake parts, flying wires, spinner, pedals and linkage, alerons, elevator and rudder are done etc. wheel pants, alot of work to do but I can't wait. About 1 year of work and she should be done.
19 Ft wing span. I am planning for a Lycoming 320. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifThis photo is of a completed one.

I've always been a fan of Tommy Sopwith.
While he designed aircraft during an era of limited technologies, his engineering was impeccable.
A Culp Pup http://www.airventure.org/2005/news/050707_culp.html would certainly be a lot of fun to fly. However, I'd rather pass on checking out the -10G capability.

Given the fact that I hold no pilots license, I would opt for a two-seater.
I think I would have had a Lockheed 14 or 18. Is that the Electra? A Lockheed Hudson could be cool, to. Or even a Grumman Widgeon, Mallard or Goose... Then I could land by my familys cabin, or go fishing in the mountains with a couple of friends and something good to drink, and be back home again the same night...
