ON Saturday 28th July I was fortunate to be part of a two man camera crew at Duxford UK, filming the 'American Air Day'.

We were asked if we would like to film Major General Paul J. Fletcher the Vice Commander, 3rd Air Force, taking a guided tour of the F86A Sabre (the oldest flying F86 in the world) and then getting in the back seat of a two seat Spitfire for a flight experience.

I had my stills camera with me and managed to get these shots, some of you may appreciate them:

The Sabre awaits the VIP.

Major General Paul J. Fletcher climbs in watched by Dave Harvey a serving RAF Hawk Pilot who later puts on a great display in the Sabre.

'Jets are for Women, this is what real men play with' - So said Dave 'Rats' Ratcliffe the ex-RAF Pilot who only gets to fly Spitfires every two weeks or so...
(The woman hogging the foreground is the Generals wife).

Rear pit view, from ground.
You can do anything from here, except start the engine!

Rats takes a call on his cell 'phone, I'm sure that's not authentic BoB.

General gets strapped in, 'it's easier to put the chute on when in the 'pit'.
And the steps were not on account of his age, honest.
