Nice!

But wouldn't wanna be in one of those if your a BnZer, especially if it simulates G forces http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Or you can build your own.

http://www.flightcontrolsimulator.com/flightcontrolconstruction.html

Now, if you could just get it to roll.

Of course, if you have more money than brains, you can go all out and get one of these. Whoo Hoo!

This one WILL just about roll, and it will fit into your spare room!

From the review: "If the pitch of the aircraft on the screen becomes really radical, often the simulator will do something completely counter-intuitive and 'creep' very slowly back into a neutral position, so as not to alert the pilot that it is moving. The platform will then wait for any change of motion on screen and then again make an initial movement in the same direction. This principle allows simulators to pass along some of the forces of 'unusual attitudes', as in the example of a pilot flying a loop or roll...It's also interesting to note that even if a simulator did complete a full roll, the forces would not be correct because in a real aircraft lateral movement, G-forces, and angular momentum hold you in your seat...For these rules of vision to work, it's absolutely critical that your flight simulator cabin is fully enclosed in order to block out any outside visual reference....All that movement however is no use unless it is programmed to act effectively, and the secret here is a 'closed loop' system. This is an electronics term which means that the computer knows the position of the platform and the position of the aircraft being displayed by the software. You can then use a control program to move the platform to precise positions so as to transfer the feeling of flight to the pilot. Older systems were 'open loop' , whereby movement on the joystick simply results in a reciprocal movement of the platform"

It looks pretty cool... BUT it would make using a TrackIR impossible. Every time you pull back on the stick your view would pan up.

Imagine that thing with olegs p-40 on the ground you would probally get thrown out of the seat like a mechanical bull.

hmm. . that things would be cool for a racing sim maybe. . .the sim/seat software needs some reworking though, in the video the seat simply matches the bank angle, which means that with any bank you will feel lateral G trying to pull you sideways, which is of course wrong unless you are doing knife edge flight! If a person had their eyes closed and a turn was made the only thing that they would feel was a slight icnreases in G. At less than 30 degrees of bank the G is hardly obvious. Spend 6K to get a reduction in realism . .bad idea. Spend 6K and get your pilot's license and have one or two grand left over to start some acro training and feel some high fidelity full motion action!

TX-EcoDragon is absolutely correct. The pitch is also simulated wrong, Flightsims use pitch (of the box) to simulate acceleration and deceleration and a vertical movement of the whole sim to simulate g forces associated with pitch change. Looks kinda cool on a video, but would probably be more effective at getting you sick than simulating a flight.

Flying inverted could really hurt. At the very least it could make you bald if you arn't already!

Good point, Ecodragon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

There's gotta be a limit - and as far as I can see the limit is when the REAL THING starts getting cheaper than the simulation.
