Not a full on sim but as per the interview , sort of in the middle. Not a full on sim, half sim half action..

mibbees aye mibbbess naw! as KD use to say!

Anyhoo, Q asked of the devs for the website in the interview!

How many planes do you hope to have in the final game? Which ones have already been implemented?

JN: The final game will have a ton of different planes, however, as for the playable ones, we are focusing on about 25. As far as what has been implemented so far, well, for the US, we have the Corsair, Wildcat, Hellcat, Bearcat, Avenger, Devastator, Dauntless, Catalina, B-25 Mitchell, P-38 Lightning, and the P-40 Warhawk (my personal favorite). For the Japanese, there€s the Zero, Pete, Kate, Betty, and Frank, with more on the way.

I didn't think it sounded to bad till i read this.

"The console versions can be expected to have similar controls, but the PC version obviously will use the mouse and keyboard. Using mouse control for a flight game is very tricky since it hasn€t generally been the norm for these sorts of games"

hmmm.

hmmm

how it could be considered anything other than a shooter in the vein of the old table top 1942 is beyond me.

no thanks.

It's not - it's an arcade flight-game and that's what it is announced as. Looks nice though.

Reading the interview they do talk about different flight models for each type of plane and it is a flight sim, might not be as strong as most in certain departments.

But what caught my eye on the page and the main reason I posted the link was not so much a NEW flight sim but seeing the list of planes they had for use in it...

I know its old , but I still don't think we have had a good enough answer to lack of models in PF (stand alone)..

look at what they have got ready for this new sim..

Where is our Avenger and Betty and a few others mentioned in that post! I think the old one that Grumman won't allow the Avenger to be used in Flight sims has been blown out of the water long ago, and this is more proof of that!

So I ask again, why in a Naval Flight Sim set in the Pacific, we don't have an Avenger while the likes of Battlestations : Midway and this new flight sim Hero's of the Pacific does!

Anyone?

just remembered before I get the usual reply!

A flyable Avenger (not AI) Hero's of the Pacific will have a flyable Avenger.

When I read your post, I have first search for Northrop-Grumman planes in the game planelist (AI&flyables).http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

that TYPHOON with DDAY markings must mean they are working on a European scenario as well, can we now dream that we are finally going to get a complete PACIFIC WAR hystorically correct sim?Something maybe close to ACES OF THE PACIFIC or 1942 WAR IN THE PACIFIC?Cross our fingers.

If you call the plane a "GRUMMAN" avenger, you cant have it. If you call it an AVENGER, you can have it...

Thats how Micro$oft got around the C issue...They just used the real full name of the manufacturer, not just the plane....

If that is true, then why no flyable Avenger in PF!

My theory. UBI printed it on the box and part of the settlement is that there will be no new N-G planes added from that point on with the current product.

We'll see in the future.

Your game looks sharp but if its only a arcade type of game then I"am not interested. Now if you make it on the PC version at list some what of a Simulator I might think of buying it.

I"am happy with the Pacific Fighter program so far and now that I think they are to add maps and more planes I"am even
more satify.

I hope you do make into a Simulator since there so few Pacific Simulator in the market.

hmmmmmm......no cockpits......!!!!no mention of a mission builder.....delayed for over a year...
a slight mention that you can use a joystick for pc....no TRACK IR.....US NAVY written in broad letters on the HELLCAT wing....could be a cheesy vulgar console piece of junk for uneducated minors.

Or it could simply be just a fun shooter. But hey... whatever rocks your world.
