Hello...

I seen the dev. update post on IL-2 web site and i seen that the tempest will be AI.

I've seen somewhere that it should be flyable. So why is the Dev. team making it AI only?

I seen it here: http://jg777.com/il2/database/gb/
and here as well: http://jg777.com/il2/images/

Just want explanations...since the cockpit seems almost done. Why should it be AI ?

Oleg or someone else, got the proper awnser?

THats oddd if its true.. I remember seeing an AMAZING.. cockpit for the Tempest that was in a very late dedvelopment stage quite a while ago..

We've also seen the cockpit on the Dev updates months ago.

This MUST be an error on the dev updates here because this is the word from the modeler:

Those are very early images of the model; the skin was 512X512, mapping was a mess and the 3D shape was quite rough. Fortunately Hammerd was interested in painting the external and cockpit textures; since then the external model was improved a lot and the cockpit is 90% done.
Right now we're working on the drop tanks, bombs and rockets. Expect some updates soon.

PLUS one of the team has talked to the author of the model and was pretty close to being confirmed that the plane would be ready for the addon pack. So why they say AI is beyond me. Hopefully they can clear that up...one of the big draws for this expansion pack is the British aircraft...the Spits and the Tempest are what its all about.

Probably just a little slip up, no big deal.

Cockpit is not complete so it is listed as AI for the expansion pack. Keep in mind that the Tempest wasn't even originally listed to be in the pay add-on.

So true.

Why everyone freaks up so easily?

Possibly because there seem to be next to no
UK aircraft represented at present. Yes, we'll
get a heavy representation compared to other
nationalities in BoB - but that's close to
2 years away, most likely!

There are next to nothing /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Finn planes in FB and it is most likely we will never get them. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It is not only about Brit planes though, people were also all over the place when they noticed 88 wasn't in it. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well, i think that we'd need another UK flyable aircraft. Without the tempest, it wouldn't be so fun...

I live in Montreal, where few Tempest have been built.. i also take it more seriouslly because of this. But i'm confident that it will become flyable on a near future.

Will be an Amazing plane, the thypooon too /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I just love UK planes, we used to have our squads equiped with their planes (Well we built lot for them) in Canada. I just can't wait to crab a good plane like the tempest.

That's why i asked.. i feel a little impatient but one thing is sure.. it will be flyable someday. I just tought that it would be in the payable add on, due to it's cockpit work advencement.

Poor representation for UK?

You've got 3 flyable British planes in FB already. That's 3 more than flyable Italian planes, and the Italians fought on the Eastern Front.

3? There is the Hurricane and, er, that's it (if 4
variations on this). If you count subvariants then
there are at least 20 flyable LW planes, and about
a dozen US ones.

It would be nice to see those too.

It's not Oleg (or anyone's) fault though. I'm just
impatient!

I Really do hope that the Tempest makes it though to the Pay add-on

I was really looking forward to those "Taxi Rank" missions in the company of P47's P51's and Spitfire's over Europe after D Day

One other thing they did do the business against the V1's in the "Anti Diver" sorties.

I hope its a typo, we all been following the tempest progress for such along time and being shown the eyecandy of the pit loadouts and externals. Who knows with ubi they may want to grinch it for thier new sim in 2005, they are already posting bob modeling shots which i dont care to see until 2005

It's not a typo. It's AI for the pay add-on and flyable for the next free update afterwards.

Confirmed from the modeler that the cockpit is nearly finished but seems like the deadline for submissions to the paid addon is just over and he hasn't had time to finish it. Very understandable. He's committed to bringing the Tempest cockpit in the update after the addon.

But yeah it seems that the RAF is going to be short for a while. Hopefully the RAF and Italian airforce crowds get their planes in that following update. Then we'll have the vast majority of major aircraft and countries in WWII (not to discount others).
