...and the Saitek X45 was my selection. I just placed my order. I have done a lot of research (nearly 2 weeks of review reading), and I just had to buy the Saitek. I would have LOVED to have bought the Cougar, but the price is astronomical for it! All in all, I got my Saitek for a great price. I paid $39.95 for a "scratched" model from Saitek's online store, so 40 bucks compared to the several hundred for the Cougar just didn't make sense, having bought a new house and with Christmas coming up and all. I am pumped. I currently have a Logitek Wingman Extreme, which is fine, but I have been wanting HOTAS for a while, and I figured that the time was right. Now, the hard part begins...the wait. Hopefully, UPS won't take too long. Come on Brown!!!

Anyways...does anyone have an X45 Profile for FB they can send me (essemm@starmail.com)? As well, does anybody have any tips or secrets for me that may make my X45 experience better? I am running Win XP Home Edition. Thanks all...

Now, if only Santa got my wish for TrackIR2. I have been good Santa, I promise!!!

Congratulations! Good choice IMHO.

adslab6 and georgeo76 have good profiles. Ask and ye shall receive.

Read the SST manual. Setup is a snap. Then you won't have to remember someone else's profile.

Here is a good link for you:

http://www.saitekforum.com/forumdisplay.php?s=2304b3d27c2af76816f4fd94d8d5899 e&daysprune=30&forumid=75

It's Saiteks X-45 forum. Good minds there.

Another link:

Some alternate drivers to try if you like.

I've never had problems w/Saiteks most recent drivers, but it always good to have alternates.

After a few flights with the X-45 you'll wonder how you were able to fly before.

Good hunting!

good buy !

but

get a better stick - or - use something to get less string tension - otherwise saitek stick has a definitive x-y feeling - i dont use the stick - but throttle is great

lol put out the christmas light too YEAGH ! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

edit : to get less string tension - take some mini - tie wraps and put it on the string on bottom of stick... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

and get latest drivers !

Congratulations, I love my X45 set, and hope you enjoy yours. You can get profiles at my webpage, link in my sig. I am currently using the new Saitek drivers from their website.

Enjoy! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Welcome essemm, to the world of warranty replacement.

DO fill out and mail in your warranty card. If you play much, you will need it. Who knows, this scratched model you've purchased could very well be one of my old X45s.

I've had to return about 6 or 7. No, I'm not too hard on it, because my wingman has returned about 8. Now obviously I keep getting the same stick for a reason. They are great. Perfect ergonomics and tons of buttons.

Saitek just happens to use cheap buttons and switches and they do go out. The main trigger is the worst. I've also encountered cutouts in the throttle and wing dips due to errant stick commands.

Anyway, good choice and it's nice to see Saitek has found a good use for all those warranty returns.
