View Full Version : Sticky This! Thread Links for Beginners

06-19-2006, 08:30 PM
Hey Everyone! I'd like to start a thread full of your favorite links to other threads that new flyers will find handy. Do you know of a thread that really explains prop pitch? Post it here! How about a thread that explains mixture or superchargers? Post it here! Even the thread(s) that explain why "G" doesn't retract/extend the F4F's landing gear. Let's try to keep them all things new players need to know in game, not external applications (no matter how good, like UQMG). This'll help them find what they're looking for without running a search or starting a new thread. Post anything you've read that helped you out with questions about the game, or about your favorite ride.

Okie dokie, I have one.....

To get the most out of the IL2FB/AEP/PF/PE2 Series, be sure to read the assorted "readme.rtf" files that came with each addon or patch, and the various .PDF files on each disk (Manuals).........Now you know everything http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

@ aardvark184, great idea, dont mind some veterans here they just tired of repeatedly answering the same questions over and over.... and burnin' the rookies is some compensation for the great ones such is Lady above http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually it's not a burn.....As I'd guess 90% of the answers to questions posted on the forums about the sim are there......Unfortunately, many simply do not look them over or often do not even realize there is more content on the discs then just the files that get placed on your PC. I myself often forgetting the various points contained.

Now what might help would be to take the little tidbits from each readme, and post them together in one document.....If someone doesn't beat me to it maybe I'll try and get around to it.

Yet most answers to questions can be found there.

Thanks for great advice, i went straight off and did my first QMB.

I set up me in a LA5-1942 alone vs 3 x FW-190-A5-1943 set on novice with all realism checked except complex engine and limited ammo. (the 1st time ive used unlimited ammo)
The start was at 1000 ft with no advantage

off i went and shocked myself to death when i took em all out 1st go. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So straight away i set it to Amateur enemy skill, this time im evenly matched-ish...... sometimes i can take out all 3 sometimes i get whuped so ill keep practising with that for a bit.

i must admit this is way better for learning than starting missions as i was before with a few secs of ammo and a hour of flying before action (which can end end frighteningly quickly) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif .

also this was my 1st time with a cannon, ive mainly up till now been using a P-51

a question...

1. what do you think of my choice of planes? my knowledge is limited so i plucked em out of thin air. ie for learning??

hope to see more stuff for us newbs, maybe one day ill erisk complex engine management *shudder* http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
