Ever notice you fire up the PC, go to fly and suddenly you stall and Joystick seems odd, check it, and find it is way out of calibration.

Often, you try to calibrate it and no go... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Well, first off try this set it on a level surface....Unplug it, give it a minute, then replug it in checking it again. Better still, if you intend to fly before you start the PC set it on a level surface.

What seems to happen is that whatever orientation the stick is when the PC starts is often where it thinks is home, or 0,0,0. No stick is so stiff it sits at 0,0,0 no matter its orientation. So if it is slightly tilted, often that little bit translates into what the stick "thinks" is its perfect center.

Only a restart, or if lucky a refinding of the hardware with the stick level will remind it of where true home is.....This problem I have seen or heard of with every brand, my own experience with Microsoft and Logitech.

Hope this helps a few.

Same thing with my old Nintendo64 controllers... if you start the N64 up with the control stick in a non-neutral position, the N64 thinks that position is neutral.

I don't know what microsoft stick you have, but I have also one for about 5 years now.

In those years I never calibrated it.

It's always good. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

An optical SW PP about 6 years old....and perhaps you had it level all the time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I don't know if it's level, but it is not important. When my joystick sits on the desk the stick self is never in center.

And the middle position of the joystick is total unimportant in FB.

Only important is that you can reach all the corners of the calibration window with the stick, and without spiking. Then it will be good.

That is my joystick tip http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
