Sonar and navigational equipment

and only very areal limited pictures of the weapons control room.

those chairs look very, VERY comfortable .... ZZZZ..zzzz

Do they have a five point harness for when they do the famous underwater 'Immelmann' maneuver?

No fresh fruits and veggies anymore, just processed packaged stuff

Just kidding about the Immelmann manuever with the sub!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Again in the control room picture, looks as if the German Submariners finally added some air conditioning! Their grandfathers would say, what wimps!

I also saw my attacking Sunderland do an Immelmann and thought to myself "Wow, those Sunderlands have some high G-Ratings and those wing spars must be made of secret strength material" and "Damm good Pilot!!"

I think the Aircraft AI is the same regardless of the aircraft

I don't know about the XXI, but the others didn't.

Clay Blair makes a point as to how the US submarines were designed with crew comfort in mind, Whereas the German U-boots were cramped and hot.

I remember in Germany, it was a rarity to find a German spec car with air conditioning in it (at least in the 70s and 80s)

I don't know, what fun would it be to be a submariner nowadays lol?

I mean, it would be hard to feel like you are a true seaman, when you are sitting in your lazy boy with like a ten foot ceiling, AC, fresh water, and not even having to stand the wind and spray of a watch. What fun is that?

Ok this is an already very old thread but ive just heard a funny thing in the news.

Guess who wanted to buy HDW (the cooperation that constructed the new type 212 u-boat)through the backdoor lately .....

The u.s goverment. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And they were ready to spend a lot of money to get it i can tell ya. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

But somehow our new goverment (Heil Merkel!) introduced a new law to prevent a hostile takeover of HDW. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Now the u.s navy send an official note to HDW and the Bundesmarine asking if they might be interested in an joint venture in sub technology research with them. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Especially focusing on hydrogen and weapons technology.

Ah yes and they are interested in buying the licenses for super cavitation technology of the Barracuda torpedo and the patend for the anti-magnetic steel the hull of the type 212 is made of. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Americans......
Why couldnt they ask nicely right from the beginning ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Im sure this Texas style they first tried came right from George W.‚¬īs gang. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/351.gif

"Yeeeehhaaa !"

"This is a thing that should be negotiated between navy and bundesmarine guys only."

"So get your *** off our ranch pilgrim" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Us Canucks can only envy the first class stuff that real navies get to play with. We buy castoff rubbish that is too worthless to scrap, cheap gov't of ours. We have to, we are too busy building the perfect welfare state.

Lovely looking girl, wasn't she just? I want to join the Bundesmarine. Where do I sign up?
Look at all that stainless steel in the galley, and how spacious compared to that little nook in a 7C.

Now, about that Korvetten Kapitan, wasn't he young looking. A real "bubi" compared to Jurgen Prochnow. And see how much room the crew had to enjoy their meal. One guy was actually strolling while carrying his food and the other guys didn't have to sit on torpedoes to eat.

Wow. I didnt knew that a women is serving aboard U-31 . http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Im sure everbody wants to get the same shifts she has. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I had to laugh as they said that although there is so much more space now, that 2 crew members still have to share one bed in shift turn.

I wonder how they determined who is the lucky guy that shares his bed with that blondy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its propably much nicer to sleep in a bed that another one already used if it was a girl who slept there.

At least the bed surely smells much better than any other aboard http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And yes the Korvettenkapit√¬§n is very young. But in WW2 this was not different.

The most of them were between 19 and 24 years old.

Kapit√¬§nleutnant Willenbrock who Prochnow was playing was one of the oldest u-boat captains still around.

Thats why he said that he feels like an old grandpa between all those kids. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Having men and women serving aboard a naval vessel opens up a whole can of worms as far as ethical issues go. I've never served in the navy, but I imagine there are appropriate regulations in place that proscribe or inhibit sexual relations between crew while at sea. Interestingly, it was a same-sex affair that was found to be the cause of an explosion aboard an American battleship a number of years ago, I believe it was aboard U.S.S. Iowa. If I remember correctly, it was determined that a sailor had a thing for another sailor and caused an explosion in a gun turret.

Dont those things get bedsores from sitting at the docks getting fixed all the time??

------------------------------------------------

They fixed the earlier faults, mainly software related. They do get around a bit now but the design flaws are pitiful. The Navy (lower ranks) still hasn't forgiven "Uncle" Kim Beasly for foisting these ill conceived "things" on them!
