View Full Version : Who else misses OCP?

Theres a lot of things that are 'New' and 'Innovative' about the new splinter cell, but the thing i think im going miss most is the OCP projector at the end of my pistol, nowhere in the gameplay did i see it being used, not in Multilayer nor solo.

The game being set in the future id assume such helpful, quiet, sealthy and handy technologies would be more frequently used, instead of just primal 'Bang at a bulb' attitude to things!!!

Who else feels the loss

PS: To the developers, i would like to mention that this is in no way or form a request, nor an excuse to 'Polish' further, so please dont delay again on its account!!!

Oh cmon man, it. . .
1> Was an awsome way to distract guards,

2> Leaves no trace,

3> Saves ammo,

4> Lets you be purely sealthy,

5> Fun to see what it does to different things,

6> One of the MOST handiest attachment to an arsenal EVER,

7> STEALTHY (ya i said it again)

8> Annoys guards,

How could you not miss it more http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

NO.

Since its introduction in SC CT, I have always been against the OCP ; which imo made the game too easy.

Not missing it all. But hey, you got your EMP backpack in Conviction which is just as much - if not, more - a major cop out.

Well if ur looking for harder gameplay (as am i), comparatively you have to admit that OCP is better, i mean you drop a soda can sized thing n ur whole zone goes out? dosent a bulb at a time sound harder?

But the ocp is still one of the reasons why I prefer SC PT.

Personally, I always used my pistol on the lightbulbs. It was permanent.

Soooou, let me get this straight, no one else liked the OCP but me?

WOW!

Think about it though, it would have to be used rarely because if a bunch of guards notice lights going out all through a building, they'll figure it out. And if it's used on a bunch cameras, realistically, someone would investigate. So really it shouldn't be that stealthy. Plus now we have EMP's in Conviction and that's the same thing over a wider area.

Stop complaining, you have unlimited ammo and AK-47, there's no need for OCP. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

As a matter of fact, i miss it. It was awesome but we got a portable EMP instead http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I didn't especially like it, but i used it A LOT

still, in this new game we can worry less about the noise made when shooting at lights and not care about wasted ammo, since it's unlimited.

It would be nice to get it back again though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

btw what does OCP stand for?

I always thought the OCP would have been better if you had to hold the trigger down and keep it pointed at the target like the camera jammer from the first game.

OCP = Optically Channeled Potentiator

I also miss it too, it kind of had an eerie horror game feel to it...

The lights go out and then they come back on, but the guard is no where to be seen; just the trail of blood leading to the cabinet door.

I also always wished you could unscrew lightbulbs and break them on the ground, I'd prefer that to the OCP.

I am a huge supporter of the OCP and what it does. It was the perfect type of device for a Splinter Cell and they should bring it back. Shooting out the lightbulbs should have alerted the AI guards. One bulb is fine but when they find a string of them the game is up. OCP was nondestructive; perfect for covert infiltration which is what Splinter Cells do. We need more devices like it.

Bottles and other things of that nature were limited in numbers and scarcely encountered. They were also a bit of pain in the you-know-what having to carry with you from room to room.

Good riddance to the OCP. It's a shame it's cousin, the EMP backpack, has decided to stay for the ride.

I love the OCP, and will definitely miss it.

I agree that it makes the game easier, but I think if the AI were improved that it would feel like a much more balanced stealth tool. As it is, it's just too easy to overuse.

I loved the OCP , for one tactically it was better because you didn't change the physical appearance of the light source

Any reasonably smart person who saw a smashed bulb would know something is fishy but if a light just flickers off and then comes back on you would think the AI would be more inclined to think it was an electrical problem and not some panther sneaking around in the dark breaking light bulbs.

I often played entire campaigns with just the OCP

Not necessarily, my first game was the PS2 version of Double Agent closely followed the PS3 version and I couldn't imagine playing the game without it.

I guess I just like going through an entire level with ever once using my rifle or pistol, except if it's to launch a sticky shocker or sticky camera.

I think the OCP made some things easier, but not that much and they add the soundmeter to balance this. So they added something that is easy but also something that makes the gameplay more difficult more deeper. I will miss OCP because it made for me alot of situation full of suspense and pressure. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If you recall the Displace mission, it makes dealing with guys on treadmills easier, lol.

Dude, the OCP was incredibly useful. Helped me get my 100% on most levels, and never fired a single shot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
