01-19-2005, 04:23 PM
we are not telling.....................K he used to be a spam athlete that was a unknown quantity at the time and used to spam the forums to death............

01-19-2005, 04:24 PM
I think it was Rubber Band Jockey or summat?? He could never get the hang of engine management or simple flight controls like trim etc. Poor chap gave up and retired I think

01-19-2005, 04:25 PM
I see. Infamous huh?

01-19-2005, 04:31 PM
RayBanJockey. IIRC he had a Super Greg avatar

01-19-2005, 04:32 PM
Ray Ban Jockey is what it stands for. Do a search for him, reading some of his old posts is very fun http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. After, you'll know why he's infamous.

01-19-2005, 04:37 PM
I fear something bad must have happened to him as a spammer like that doesn't just dissapear for no good reason.

01-19-2005, 05:04 PM
An RBJ thread. I love it!

01-19-2005, 05:38 PM
for comparison - see SirRobin postings....same
spooflike quality.

01-19-2005, 05:45 PM
He hasn't "disappeared", I'm sure.

He's around... somewhere in here...

01-19-2005, 05:58 PM
HS!!! I just did a search for Super Greg..... ROFLMAO!!! All this time I thought that was Ray!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Yeah... Sir Robin is the closest thing we have RBJ.

Widely acknowledged as the master of online dogfighting, RayBanJockey was always willing to share his wisdom with us mere mortals. His fountain of knowledge never ran dry, and those who chose to drink from this fountain were richly rewarded with ever-greater kill/loss ratios. His generosity, kindness, sportsmanship, and love are legendary on these forums, and he is dearly missed. Someday he will return. He MUST return.

"I specialize in taking on whole online squadrons at once." - RayBanJockey

I miss RBJ. Super Greg WAS ALWAYS FUNNY.

I think his snappy reparte' was always firmly in cheek.

He cheezed a lot of folk's bisquits in here. I think some couldn't get or take the joke, and disliked him for it.

(Heck I didn't ALWAYS agree with him....but hey he was funny and in his own way very intelligent.)

And I secretly wonder if Robin Hood IS RBJ.

Once you go Track... you never go back.

"I tried to get banned, and they gave me an award!"- RBJ. in a pm he once sent me, after winning the "Funniest Community Member" award.

01-19-2005, 07:50 PM
Ah, yes. RBJ drove me nuts...

But I eventually saw the funny side...

Best RBJ moment ever:
RBJ was sucking bandwidth off of a Dancing Super Greg site for his sig and posting a gazillion messages in the Pilot's Lounge. The site's admin notices that massive megabytes of bandwidth is wasted in the Pilot's Lounge and renames Dancing Super Greg to DSG2 then puts a "disturbing" picture in its place. Tully spent hours editing RBJ's posts to clear the offending link.
Otherwise he was a mild annoyance - he is the sole reason that elevator trim has a delay now. The original IL-2 would give you hellacious elevator control with no energy bleed just by maxxing trim. Everyone knew about it but he made a big deal out of including "Trim on a slider" tm (RBJ) in all of his "I'm the greatest ace in the place" posts. When Oleg fixed it RBJ was never the same. Something just quit working inside his brain.

Whenever I start to miss his posts I just squeeze my big toe with a Vise Grip. By the time the throbbing stops I've forgotten all about the dude.

Those were the days...

01-19-2005, 08:52 PM
die thread , die

EDIT : "When Oleg fixed it RBJ was never the same." . . . . . . this is true

you missed his MW50 thread then i take it

seeing as it was from a guy who "coccooned" himself till he was all-knowing , it was pretty stupid

01-19-2005, 09:46 PM
whenever someone says, "put it on a slider"

you can thank RBJ.

I'm with xnomad. something bad must have happened to him. He wouldn't just vanish. Even if he changed his name, how could he hide that wisdom he loved to share.

01-19-2005, 09:52 PM
one of the more interesting characters around

he first became famous for his "trim on slider" arguments with the "i am too poor to own a HOTAS so want them banned" brigade .. not to mention he hated trackIR

interestingly he mixed mad trolling with some extremely accurate information on flight models and optimising performance, especially in 109's, accurate to the extent that many people suspected he was an alterego of someone else who posted less extreme stuff under a squad tag and used RBJ when he wanted to be controversial and stir the pot

01-19-2005, 10:05 PM
I forgot all about his ANTI TRACK IR tirades.
And, the infamous "if you can't tell the difference of a 100 refresh rate and a rate of 85 then there has to be something wrong with you, and your eyes."

Oh shirt!....I clicked on the Supa Gregg site..... I still laugh. What the 'H' 'E' double hockeysticks is wrong with me?

Once you go Track...you never go back.

You just had to be here when he was otherwise it is hard to realize wh RBJ really is.
Noone can explain it xcept himself. Period.

01-20-2005, 01:38 AM
Amazing I loved RBJ,he is sorely missed by me.
Something is now missing from this forum, like great humour, short incisive insights, great advice that stirred the pot,and he could bait the best and they didn't even know it as can still be seen by some of the postings in this thread. He made me want to read these forums ASAP and that doesn't happen now.
RBJ if you have gone on a slider to the great
beyond "go gettem mate" god speed.
Cheers, Ibis.

I miss RBJ.
Those that didn't like took him to serious I guess. He was the comic relief of the IL2 board back in those days!

Btw, I wonder if Ali G and Super Greg are related?

01-20-2005, 10:42 AM
Sir.Robin is Ivan!!!!!! Be dure http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Long live RBJ!

01-20-2005, 12:59 PM
RBJ had some computer optimization advice for all, too. He was vehemently opposed to overclocking any components on anybodys system and Microsoft certified drivers were the only drivers he would run. He was also emphatic in running his monitor with v-sync enabled. He correctly explained to people that with v-sync on, your fps will be 1/half or 1/third.. of your refresh rate on your monitor. He got outlandish with his self proclaimed "ace" status and he could hijack any thread with a small comment, the remaining posts in the thread would then be attacks against him, regardless what the original topic was.

Hey Ivan, who does he lurk as now?

01-20-2005, 01:54 PM
Hey kiddies!Wanna see RBJs sig when he was caught bandwith leeching?http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

01-20-2005, 02:38 PM
If I remember right, RBJ was always talking about how using a firewall and anti-virus was just stupid and unneccesary. He said he just re-formatted every couple of months....

Maybe THAT is what happened to him.
