Me thinks some pilot needed to change their shorts. Pulled a pretty high AOA and it looks like the plane was saved by ground effect.

That's nothing. At Cold Lake 2005 I saw a trainer do a low barrel roll, and accidentally drag a wing on the ground.

Yak pilot should do it again, and make sure he scoops up some dirt this time!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't think ground effect can have attributed much here, as AFAIK the ground effect appears when the distance from the wing to the ground is less than the chord of the wing. On a propellor driven aircraft, the radius of the propellor makes it difficult to get that low.

It's the span of the wing, not the chord. The magnitude of the effect is also greater at small fractions of the span than at large fractions, so low wing aircraft suffer/benefit more from ground effect during takeoff/landing than high wing aircraft do.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I bet the person who signed his display authorisation was'nt impressed.
