"In terms of Sexy looking aircraft I like very much Mustang and less Yak-9U post war production. In the last case it doesn't means that I will model Yak-9U to the trials before manufacture speciafications. We model it with all the problems of aircraft of the first series."

Me thinks some pilot needed to change their shorts. Pulled a pretty high AOA and it looks like the plane was saved by ground effect.

You can see him starting to mush as he pulls too hard. Lunix is right. Jeez.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That was close, but the Snow Birds jets look real good there.

That's nothing. At Cold Lake 2005 I saw a trainer do a low barrel roll, and accidentally drag a wing on the ground.

Yak pilot should do it again, and make sure he scoops up some dirt this time!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

He must have felt silly when he saw that clip afterwards!

I wonder what the owners of the aircraft had to say to him?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

the pilot in that Yak could have died that day

a tenth of a second slower yank on the stick & he would have gone splat<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't think ground effect can have attributed much here, as AFAIK the ground effect appears when the distance from the wing to the ground is less than the chord of the wing. On a propellor driven aircraft, the radius of the propellor makes it difficult to get that low.

It's the span of the wing, not the chord. The magnitude of the effect is also greater at small fractions of the span than at large fractions, so low wing aircraft suffer/benefit more from ground effect during takeoff/landing than high wing aircraft do.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif what a ***********.It's stuff like that that grabs the headlines and starts the "lets ban airdisplays" or the "ground them gang" going off.
I bet the person who signed his display authorisation was'nt impressed.
One lucky lucky but hopefully shamed pilot.
