I voted Other. Such boring choices!

What about Atmosphere, Quality of Build, Oleg's Mustache?

You should have put all of the above as a choice.

I've gotta say airplanes, without those this game would pretty much suck. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

My choice -- pure awesome entertainment and replayability (is that even a word?)

I voted for 'multiplayer features'.The reason being that if FB didn't play so well online as it does it could of died a very quick death like so many games before it.I don't think I've ever played a game that plays so well online as FB.

I voted airplanes, without them, the whole game would be very boring http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

Seriously now, I love the new B-17, and taking it online into multiplayer battles is awesome. Sadly, I only had one vote.

Many, many things. But the ones that clinched it for me:

1.Offline `Dynamic` Campaign (Even if not truly dynamic. It`s Ten times better than static missions).

2. Enemy AI that really fights.

3. Ability to have different plane/pilot skins offline. Another first.

4. Sirens (never before heard in a flight-not in CFS3, should have been since it came out after IL2). So obvious and true immersion feel.

5. Damn, nearly forgot. The damage models. I`ve always loved the ways planes can go down in previous sims, but it was never enough. I could count the ways on one hand. IL2/FB managed to create so many ways for a plane to go down that it`s impossible to count. A true dream!

When it comes to aircombat, I'd rather be lucky than good any day!

Well, it is a great game but really the best thing is this forum. I have learned more about WWII aircraft reading this forum for the past two years than in all my previous _______ (insert large number) years of reading on the subject. Lot of smart people posting here. (Only a few wankers as well) :-)

For me its gotta be the bombers and damage model.
Such cool explosions and tricky situations http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The propellor is just a big fan to keep the pilot cool.. when it stops you can see the pilot start sweating!

My fav is the cockpits. They look so good and really give you a feeling of being in the game. The immersion and suspension of disbelief is the no 1 thing I look for in a game and the pits just do it for me.

Amen, Sutton.

When the disagreements avoid getting personal there's a lot of interesting stuff on these boards and some very sharp people in this community.

I knew almost nothing about the VVS or the Eastern Front in WWII when I started flying sim, now I have a whole library full of books on the topic. And I've read every one of them.

I voted airplanes but there's much more ...

Have to agree with CRSutton regarding the forum. If you read between the whines, trolls and malicious posts, there's a wealth of intelligent and well-informed material here. I've often seen brilliant insights into WWII history and technical info.

REAL SENSE OF FLYING! Its relatively easy to project oneself into a real battle situation.

12-31-2003, 05:03 PM
FULL MISSION BUILDER! best mission gererator there is. you can make any mission any way that you want. It's as good as any real time strategy game plus you can fly the planes.

12-31-2003, 05:21 PM
the full mission biulder aint that great. They need to add the ability to actually add air bases (i may have looked over it though) and I havent found any way to add "triggers".

I love the 'feel' of the game. The way your airplane shakes when you leave the ground with a bit too low speed. The way it stalls out and spins. The way the terrain passes below you. The superb 3D cockpit!! WOW, what a joy!!

It might not be completly realistic but, it is the best to be found yet in a flight sim! I remember that I used to think that M$ made the best flight sims.

How little did I know.

I played CFS1 with really much of joy. Because of crappy hardware, I continued CFS1, a year after CFS2.

Then I got a new PC and tried Il-2. After a few months, a friend of my lend me CFS2 and BOY, did that feel crappy. The same friend lend me CFS3. Hell, I could do a complete pirrouette with the P-47 on the runway!!! Not just taxi├┬»ng in a circle but, a real pirrouette! How real is that?? Not to mention the amount of down trim needed to level a B-25 after a AAA hit. It needed 100% down trim and some forward stick pressure. to fly level!
