I've just unlocked the Enemy Tides Challenge and tried to make my best record out of it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Simple as it looks, I just wonder which is your best time.

PS: For those who don't know, you can unlock this challenge after beating TFS.

There are 8 waves of enemies. Each one gets stronger. You need to beat it as fast as you can. There is no time limit. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

So when did you finish TFS HD, Teddy?

ooo, now I have a reason to play the game again!

09-22-2010, 03:07 PM
I'm bored so i replayed this game, and tried this enemy tides thing. After 12 tries my best is 4:35.06. So i was just wondering if any of you young <STRIKE>hot****s</STRIKE> hotshots will help an ol' lady out & post some tips. My reflexes have seen better days, so nothing can be done about that, but maybe Teddy and/or Yannis could post some strategy pointers?

09-22-2010, 03:11 PM
You too, Aninka? I also tried the Enemy Tides thingy and gave it a shot and after my third attempt I got 5:22:01. So I'm worse than you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
It actually is quite fun!

Teddy seems to have vanished, somehow. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

09-22-2010, 03:39 PM
Yeah, if he keeps this up somebody will have to add him to the "Most Missed Members" category of Yannis's Forum Awards!

I was able to get 2:40 at best. I just used the ice attack whenever I could and slashed away like crazy - best to be fully upgraded.

09-24-2010, 01:14 PM
OMG, phil!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

That really worked for me. I got my best time down to 3:24.6 and i even had LOTS of ice attack left in me @ end! I could prolly improve this, even! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

A very considerable improvement. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Oddly, the ice attack was my fave during the game, but for some reason i thought it would be more effective to use tornado on all the bugs + skeletons. WRONG!

Just eats up those blue dots. I realized the "one-hit wonders" like scarabs + skeletins fill-up your blue dots and using special powers eats up blue dots without yeilding any replacemnents.

So whenever I saw bugs, skeletons i used regular attack to fill up on all my blue dots (or whatever you call 'em) and saved my ice for tougher foes.

Also, it helps to "Be There When They Spawn!" Especially for the big guys, learn where they come up & slash with ice like crazy while they are materializing, you can take 'em out before they even have a chance to stand up! If their minions are skeletons/bugs, use reg attack to replace blue dots.

Forget about breakables, unless you find yourself near one during course of battle. Running around trying to harvest blue dots from breakables just wastes time.

Use power attack on big spikey guys, with ice it takes 'em out in one hit, even 2-3 at a time with one hit! Too much fun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Avoid animations. Don't attack minions near a wall, it triggers kill animation which eats up time.

One thing i am not sure about is big guy at end. It seems to me that, when he goes down on his knee, hacking away is faster than jumping on his back and triggering speed-kill animation. But I'm not sure which way is fastest. What do you guys think? Anybody got a stopwatch?

Also, they always start me with 2 blue dots in my bar even tho my prince is maxed-out. Is there some way to start this challenge with more blue tanks filled?

Bravo Aninka! Bravo! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif But we must still beat Teddy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I have no idea about the big guy in the end. But yes that's about the same things what I did.

Haha, more blue dots? No it's not possible. But I wish it were. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I've updated the list.

10-07-2010, 04:42 PM
Ahem... erm: 3:18.2

Now Ted will you please let us know how you got under 3 minutes?

@ Aurors: I have tried several more times to beat 3:18.2 but never came close! I think I just got lucky. I know that avoiding getting hit shaves time, because when you get hit there is a slight pause in action as prince pesumable "recovers" so maybe I just managed to not get hit as much as i usually do, which is a lot. Also it seems to me that rolling out of the way to avoid getting hit takes more time than letting prince get hit. The rolling animation seems to be longer than the hit recovery animation.

So Ted + Phil did you guys just never get hit? If so, how do you avoid getting attacked?

10-07-2010, 04:57 PM
You just need to develop your own strategy.

A few notes;

Jumping is much faster than rolling.
Using the Ice Power is the key. When those big brutes show up, if you strike them from behind you can hit it and the enemies around, multiple tasking, get it?
When you kill enemies with the powers you don't gain extra slots, so when there are nothing but skeletons, you can use them to get some. Also, knowing where each set of enemies appear can make things easier.
Try to kill as many enemies as you can in one hit. Remember, using a combo + the ice power is very powerful, useful for hords of enemies.

And stay away from the walls, those mini-cutscenes make you lose time, just as jumping on enemies.

10-07-2010, 05:20 PM
Thanks, Ted! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif that is mainly what i tried, but what do you mean by using a combo with Ice? What combo is best to use with ice?

10-07-2010, 05:26 PM
On the five-hit combo, instead of striking 5 times, do it 4 times, then at the fifth time perform a power attack. The most powerfull combo there is on the game. + the Ice Power and you're a beast.

10-07-2010, 05:30 PM
OMG, Ted, I don't think I can do that. When i try a combo i usually get hit before i can chain. What am i doing wrong?

10-07-2010, 05:35 PM
Don't just point to a side only, try to hit all nearby enemies during a combo. And if you upgrade your ice power to the max it gets more powerfull too. You should notice a trail from the ice power. It can hit enemies standing far away.

10-07-2010, 06:06 PM
Oh, yes, i noticed that! I will try to learn how to use it effectively. Thanks. Ya know, for a big, burly, brute of a man you're actually kinda sweet. http://media.ubi.com/us/forum_images/gf-glomp.gif

10-09-2010, 02:05 AM

I have stable result of 3.00.0 almost in every fight. Ugh. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Aninka there two things that Teddy didn't tell you. First off on the right side there are vases and in those vases are blue orbs.

Next thing try putting some Godsmack track it will really help you. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

And 4 hit combo + 1 power attack + Ice Power = Ultimate Combo.

Try using this on last boss. Also this combo is the key to success. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

10-09-2010, 05:22 AM
I've got a feeling that I'll be dethroned from my last last place soon, if I don't start playing this challenge again.

*starts playing*

10-09-2010, 06:12 AM
Getting blue orbs from vases just make you lose time. No need to get those. I usually reach the last row of enemies under 2 minutes. The hardest part is the last one, it takes longer to beat all of them. And the ultimate combo I use it on every row, at least when there are more than skeletons to kill.

Updated the scores.

10-09-2010, 05:19 PM
Here my try:
It would have been better had it not been for the 360's horrible D-pad that actives all the powers at once when you press it.

Now I don't wanna sound like a loser but this challenge really depends on luck. Sometimes the orb bar will be full after just 2 waves other times I'll be struggling to fill it up even after the 5th wave. Also the boss at the end also randomly drops orb(or doesn't at all sometimes)

I didn't play long enough to come up with a strategy besides button bashing so i have a question: Is it possible to turn off a power after you've activated it?

10-10-2010, 04:25 AM
No, it's not possible. Unless you activate another power.
