View Full Version : Patched AEP FMs?

I've got FB v1.22 & I think it's pretty much OK flightmodelwise. But how is the AEP with patches - do the flight models change a lot?

Every patch (for the biggest part) was definite advancement over the out of the box game. Also, the patches contain new planes. I am sure that you don't want to miss out on that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

BTW, you will find out that, over time, 1C Maddox isn't like other game developers: these aren't simply patches to "fix" problems, as other companies seem to need to do after a game is released. They are the result of ongoing development, something unheard of from most developers.

ps Not only AEP, but if you get Pacific Fighters and do a merged install, all of the ongoing development will be applied to all other parts of the game. You won't believe what a simple water splash looks like now!

Rgr that Tsisqua.

Yeah, from what I've seen so far this sim REALLY is something else when compared to almost anything else out there! I tried the original IL2 out at friend's some 2 weeks ago & was immediately hooked http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But what I meant to ask was that the FMs aren't by any change... err... dumbed DOWN or anything in the later releases, right? Because it sometimes sadly happens that the gamers think the FMs "suck" because they are too demanding & the developer then decides to make them easier http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

However if that's NOT the case, then Yrs Trly is off to the shops like right away... so opinions please, ladies (if any) & gents?

PS. PF maybe later as well, but not yet...

Something always changes with every patch or upgrade. Sometimes it's subtle and sometimes it is significant ... and sometimes that 'something' gets changed again by the next patch ... It's hard to answer your question.

I had both FB 1.22 and FB/AEP 2.04 installed to my computer for a while, and to be honest I didn't see too dramatic a change in most FMs or AI behavior. Usually changes were for the better. I'd say the large collection of aircraft added (like the Spitfire series, the P-38J/L, the Bf-110, the P-51B/C and alternate D model, the rocket and jet planes, etc.) far outweigh any negative FM or DM changes ... but I only say that without using statistical proof like historical flight data to compare turn rate, climb rate, dive speed, rolls, etc.

As I said, I kept both versions on my computer for a long time (Just make a copy of the game folder and rename it, and then install AEP to the default FB location and rename your desktop shortcut icon.) After a while I was only playing FB/AEP. And when I installed PF, I decided that FB v1.22 could be deleted.

My advice is to ask about specific planes. You'll probably get more precise answers, both pro and con, especially if you're concerned about a favorite type.

OK, thx Skycat_2. So how's the Yak-3 in the latest AEP then, any opinions guys?

Also, has the He-111H-6 changed? I just tried it out and it sure feels nice, firm & hefty - i.e. just like a twin-engined medium-sized transport / bomber should IMHO. Not very far from the FS2004 DC-3 w/ Trev Morson's air files that is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

(But yes, I'm probably buying that expansion anyway - just asking to know vaguely what to expect...)

OK. Bought, installed & patched it yesterday. And it's great - no dumbing down whatsoever detected so far http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Only gripe I've got is about the installer. It couldn't find my IL-2 FB at all, so I had to add some registry entries manually to make it work!

But all's well that ends well, however, and I'm up and running now... and yeaaaah, that new Bf110G-2 flyable sure is one *****in mothaf**ka http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
