Hello guys /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I'm really really happy because I've finished the model!! Only some minor adjustements are required to send it to Oleg /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I know i said that I'll be sending it by the Weekend, but textures gave me more work than supposed to... Note that also dive brakes are there!! (mixed alpha and mesh) Anyway below are the 3 Damage levels for LOD0. Tell me what do you think!!

Regards.

Wow, that looks awesome.

Thanks for your hard work, and do you know it's status as far as it's inclusion into the FB planeset?

Looks like it will be in the add-on CD probably?

Excellent work on that! Hope to see a flyable in the future! A dive bombing fighter that is a close cousin of the P-51 would be interesting!

My thought exactly. Great model and nice damage textures for the wings and rear but it could do with a little more mistreatment around the engine hood and cockpit side.

Thanks!

Maybe a little too much "cookie monster" effect (bite mark chunks removed) and "tommy-gun" effect (neat lines of bullet holes), but very nice, especially for your speed of work!

What's the status on the cockpit?

(p.s.: do you have the 1.2beta? You might want to take a look at the damage modelling on the P-51D in game.)

It is more than a "close cousin". It is indeed a P51. The Army Air Corps knew that they could not get funding for yet another new fighter, so by adding the dive-bombing capability, they were able to get funding for it. It's performance will be little different than P51A/Mustang I.

Will there be engine damage? I didn't see anything for the engine in your selections.

LeadSpitter, the A36 also saw extensive use by the USAAF in North Africa and Italy, as well as in India.

I agree with you about look too unrealistic damage effect...yes I never though "cookie monster" effect as neat line machine-gun bullet are too hollywood to me. Umm...Battle damage are too televison theme. Sorry for my Blunt, as hope you didn't send it to Oleg until you change damage effect.

Well, I noticed the cookie monster effect, but I think it is really just those 3 chunks out of the aelerons, once you see them they sort of suck all your attention. Make them less deep and more assymetrical and it's fine imho.

Hey thank you all for you comments and congrats /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif !! I guess that you're right regarding the shape of blowed parts, but i don't have any blown aircraft reference, even if I searched on the internet (don't know very much specific sites though) So I just went by imagination, and for the little you can see on the game (with fire, smoke and speed you can't see that much really) I haven't submitted to Oleg yet because of pivots adjustements... but i guess that if i keep working on it it will never be on the update... remember that there is the whole programming part behind the model, and model is only the 30% of overall game aircraft insertion. Besides that there's my real work that doesn't left much spare time lately... we'll see. Regarding the cockpit there's already a P51 cockpit that should do for her too...

I'll try to fix that and repost.

Regards.

The model is very good! A real nice and original aircraft! Now cheese-up the skin a bit and it'll look really attractive!

Mesh, I suggest you go into the game, shoot up some planes and take a look at how people have handled damage modelling for different planes. If your damage modelling is not in line with what is already in the game, Oleg is liable to ask you to rework it anyways (not saying he will, but he is usually a stickler for consistency). The new B-17 has some really excellent damage textures and modelling.

Regarding the cockpit, if the A36's cockpit was the same as the P-51B, then nothing needs to be done, but if it was different in anyway, then someone will need to make the necessary changes to get the A-36 flyable.

I would like to, but i don't have the FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif . I've tried at one of my friend's, but just for a while. I can see if I can borrow his, since he's not using it (he thought it was easier lol /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ). But as i said, i'll do the modifications to the textures and everything is at hand to finish the model in time for the patch. It would be great if someone could pin up some shoted aircrafts pictures... it can save me some time. I know that Oleg wants the most real models possible for the game and that's why i need references.

Thanks and Regards.

I couldn't find any damage pics of the A36 for you unfortunately, but I'll be looking forward to flying it whether you improve the damage model or not (it looks great as it is).

Maybe someone local could give you a copy of the game you earned it thats for sure.I find it amazing that you would do all this work and not be a il2 junky /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

We could take some screanshots of differant aircrafts DM if you like ?

Great work by the way
