View Full Version : TrackIR and my machine

I've been kicking around the idea of getting a trackir system for my computer for some time now. I have decided to give it a go but first want to make sure my system is ok for it.

Heres what I have:

AMD Athlon 64 2000 (10 X 200) 3000+
Windows XP
Service Pack 2
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 video card
DirectX 9.0c

Will this work ok with my system? Also, how easy is it to get used to the TrackIR. I have heard that once I try it I wouldnt be able to fly without it again.

Any comments and suggestions are very much welcome.

yep. TrackIR is very, very low on resources.

This leads me to my next question then. Do I go with trackir3Pro or just trackir3?

I see the only difference being that with Pro you get the 6OD, and as far as I have read PF or IL-2 in general does not support this.

Am I correct in assuming that TrackIR3 will be good enough?

I have almost the same exact rig but with a pentium 4 .

TIR works flawlessly. Smooth and doesn't eat any resources. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I own trackir2 and it's great.I guess 3 and 3Pro are great too.

It's the most functional/useful piece of hardware next to my joystick. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The IL2 series does not support 6 DOF, but Flight Sim 2004 and newer flight sims will support 6 DOF. I spent the extra money on the Pro3 and Vector expansion so that I am ready for newer sims. The Vector does seem to give smoother movement even in sims that do not support 6 DOF.

Go for Pro, it's much better and get the vector expansion to - no need for silly dots then and you'll benefit from those games that incorpoarte the expansion - I think BoB will so you'll want it for that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You will not be disappointed, just go the extra mile and get Vector as it's even more stable and effortless even in 2DOF which FB is limited to.

Good luck!

go with TrackIR3 Pro if you can ... its smoother and has the option of adding Vector Expansion later. Works great with FS 2004.

always go with the latest trak-IR.

unless it was free, or dirt cheep, then be happy with what you get.

but if you have the money =trak-IR 3 PRO, with VECTOR add-on.
