I've noticed that when you start a mission in certain Japanese planes that an "iron" sight (over the reflected sight) moves to the left as soon as you get in the pit. Is there a way to move it back over to center? What is it for? I've tried cntl-d, and have bound and tried all the bomb/gun site controls I could find. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, that was in the case the reflector sight did not work. I have noticed that sometimes the iron sight will move back into the center if I'm hit in the cockpit. Perhaps the game registers that the reflector sight has been hit (yet I can still see it) and does it automatically.

Ahh, interesting. I too have seen it move back on it's own. Never considered that it would be something automatic triggered by damage. Retrospectivly that makes sense. So it isn't something that you can toggle, and more importantly there would be no reason to do so if you reflector sight is still functioning. I can live with that. I'm new to the IL2 world (soooo much better than CFS by the way) and I'm just a kid in a candy store wanting to try out everyting.

My problem is with the Japanesse planes is that my sight is just black. Is there a certain way to activate it?
I have tried "toggle gunsight", zooming in and out everything but all I have is a scope that you can't see anything through.
I don't fly Japanesse planes often becasue of this fact I can't see through the gunsight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
What is it that I'm doing wrong or not doing at all?

Yep, telescopic gunsight. Ctrl-D opens it, and closes it. Shift-f1 lets you look through it. On the divebomber and the ki-43s in this sim. I like the sight, especially for pilot or engine hits in the Ki-43.

Thanks guys!! I was pulling my hair out (what is left) trying to figure it out.
This is one thing that could be added to a manual definitions of commands http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I know most are self explanatory but some aren't http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
