View Full Version : What's In A Name?

How can there be a 'Might & Magic Heroes VI' without there ever being a 1-5? What was so wrong with "Heroes of Might & Magic" as a series title?

If there is such an eager drive to change a legacy, then UBI should simply rename this installation something completely new, since strategic gameplay has been steadily dropping away in lieu of more visual appeal ever since the third installment. It's not as if there are many of us left that even *remember* all that New World Computing created, so I doubt the short attention spans of today will care all that much if you simply put out a game titled "Magic-Type People", and just have gameplay be a series of pretty cut-scenes with copious amounts of teenage slang.

Probably will set an all-time sales record, and get ported to the WII... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I suspect it's just some sort of marketing gimmick or something, ubisoft are not the only ones to do it, look at total war. It's no longer Shogun, total war 2. but total war, Shogun 2.

So don't pay much attention to it, i'll admit it sounds silly and pointless. But ultimately it doesn't really change the game.

That's interesting, it seems to me that Ubisoft is just trying to use the Might & Magic brand to their advantage. HoMM has certainly evolved over time to become just "Heroes," so I do admire that they've taken the "Might & Magic" aside so that "Heroes VI" stands alone.

Other than that it's just a rephrasing of Heroes of Might & Magic to Might & Magic Heroes. It certainly gets rid of the "of," but I think it's mostly about driving the series into a new era of change.

You kidding? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

That said I dislike the new name and see little reason why it should be changed but ubi plans to create more games under the might and magic brand as was the case with clash of heroes. Who knows what the future will bring.

Don't jump to the conclusion that the series' legacy is being swept under the rug. There's lots of new material in the game, but it's an anniversary title after all.

Maybe the name change was facilitated because someone beat them to the domain name (http://www.heroesofmightandmagic6.com/) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I dislike the new name too, but I'll continue to call it Heroes of Might and Magic; that's what it is to me so that's what I'll continue to call it.

As long as Ubi keep bringing this game out in all it's many guises, i don't much care how they word it HOMM, or MMH, dont make much difference imo.

Too bad this domain is already sold, but isn't being used: http://www.heroes.com/
